Where is the Best Burrito in Denver, Colorado?
Briefly, great food – lousy dining experience. Very flavorful chili, but more a delicious sauce than true “Colorado” green chili. Sopas and chiliquilles are outstanding. Coffee and tea are awful, stick with the soft drinks. Prices on the high side, but the quality is worth paying a little more. Service is a bit cold, can’t get those gals to smile for anything. Dining experience is a zero on the mood scale.
I’ve been eating LD food for years all over Denver- even the now defunct Blake Street location. It used to be fantastic. My recent experience at 19th & Penn was like canned refried beans and salsa from a jar. I recommended it to a friend and was embarassed when our food came. Our margaritas were syrupy sweet but low on alcohol. The service has always been bad, but when the food was good it didn’t matter. I’m done with LD now. There are better options.As to the review below regarding “real” Mexican food in Texas- that ain’t it. That’s why it’s called Tex-Mex. My in-laws from Mexico City assure me hardly any Mexican food in the US is true Mexican either. In Colorado you will typically find the New Mexican style, and the food at the 19th & Penn LD is a very poor attempt at it.Pros + good pricesCons – TV dinner quality, inattentive service, tough parking
Are you in need of a quick Mexican fix, or a completely and totally filling meal on a budget? It’s completely worth a trip to Pete’s then. Their fast service will get you out the door (or to the table, at least) quickly and leave you sated.Illegal Pete’s offers pretty much the best fast-casual burritos, if not the best all around, in town. Certainly the best fish burritos — get the Big Fish. Great queso dip too. On top of that, they serve Hazed and Infused, run a decent happy hour, and know how to make a margarita fresh.Don’t be intimidated by lines, as the longest wait is typically about five-six minutes, and that’s if they’re out the door. The only downside is the musical choices can be a bit… poor and loud enough to discourage conversation at times.Pros + Best burritos, great margaritas, fastCons – Often loud, crowded
My family loves El Jardin. I was reading these posts and PKYPKY doesn’t have a clue what he/she is talking about. This is by far the BEST Mexican food in Colorado. We have had nothing but professional customer service and they really care. The specials are good deals with $2 burrito days, and top quality. I own a business and I know you can’t make everyone happy, and realize that not every business is perfect. My suggestion to everyone is to try it yourself. This restaurant is wonderful and me, my husband, kids and extended families love it. One of our favorites is the Fajita Burrito supreme…YUMMY! The only bummer is that we have to drive a little bit out of the way to get there, but it is WELL worth it. The parking can be tough on a busy night, but I guess that goes to show you that if they are full, then they must be good! I highly recommend El Jardin!Pros + Excellent Food, Great Taste…love the HOT green chili!Cons – Parking on a busy night.
