Where is the Best Budget Hotel in Portland, Oregon?
My wife and I were in PDX for the 4th of July weekend, and chose this hotel for its proximity to downtown, Amtrak station, public transportation, etc. The hotel staff is exceedingly polite and friendly, and hotel is neat and clean. It is close to rose garden, but is in a quieter neighborhood, across the street from a Crown Plaza hotel. Bus stop, and MAX light rail stations are a 5 minute walk southwards, and those are even free if you’re just going downtown across the river. There is even a 7-11 behind. You get a mini fridge, nice TV, etc. They even gave us a 20% off coupon for the next stay. The only problem is that the walls/ceilings are thin, so you could hear stuff going on in other rooms. Also, the choices for continental breakfast were limited. Overall, a great experience for the price.
Great location, value and quirkiness make up for being overrun with hipsters. The hotel itself is a refurbished old hotel. Note refurbished not renovated. They’ve simply given each room its own unique artistic treatment and spruced up some of the plumbing and…
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Portland Downtown for 6 nights in July 2008 and really enjoyed my visit. The hotel was perfect for an extended stay because of all of the amenities it provided. The room was very clean, comfortable, quiet and attractive. It was well equipped with appliances including a microwave, empty refrigerator, iron, ironing board and…
I am ambulatory disabled and I need a handicapped room with a bathtub. This hotel has this kind of room available. My disappointment was that this room was not available with a senior discount. This hotel has a convenience store adjacent to it and it is across a side street from a MacDonald’s restaurant. It is also a short drive to a Shari’s restaurant. It also is less than a mile from I-205.This hotel made me feel respected: I belong to the Choice Rewards program and I was able to stay half an hour or so past the normal check out time.
I have stayed at this hotel before and decided to stay again and wrote a review of my earlier stay. This hotel is located on Broadway in a prime shopping area (Nordstrom, Macy’s, Banana Republic, St. John, Columbia, Nike, etc.). The front desk staff is extremely friendly. My only negative experience is with the woman who works at the concierge…
