My wife and I needed an inexpensive hotel for a weekend trip to Pittsburgh. Everything downtown was a bit too expensive for our tastes, so we found this hotel through Tripadvisor. Spacious, modern and comfortable would be good enough but throw in a location that’s convenient to Shadyside shops and dining and you can’t do better. Our one-bedroom suite had a nice-sized living area, an adequate queen bedroom and a serviceable kitchen. Bathroom was a little tight. Everything was modern and clean and owner/manager Robert Cox was attentive and accessible, even from long distance. When we locked ourselves out and he was stuck in a storm 25 miles away he located a handyman who got us back in within 15 minutes. Wireless Internet and satellite TV is included in the very affordable price. Good restaurants are within a walk or short drive (try Cafe Zinho) and so are supermarkets, pharmacies … even a liquor store! On-street parking is free and was never more than a half block away and public transportation is at the corner. One note to light sleepers; you might want to request a second-floor room away from Frienship Avenue, which has some morning street noise. But this is
