I love stopping into Habit whenever I’m in Wicker Park. There is always new, interesting clothing. I bought an edgy top by Chicago designer Abigail Glaum-Lathbury that always gets me compliments. The jewelry selection reminds me of the great little boutiques I’ve seen in New York. Habit doesn’t always have my size, because they only carry a handful of any design, but every time I go, I find something I know no one else will have.I also love the elegant atmosphere. an interesting mix of jewelry, accessories, and housewares, stitch just makes me drool! although most items have a high price tag, i definitely say they are all well worth it! it’s hard to find a lot of these lines elsewhere in the city, and the store itself just looks beautiful and is a delight to visit!
What makes this store work is that it is totally unpretentious. They don’t seem to have a problem carrying a line that is not well known or that almost every other boutique carries. This has become my men’s clothing store of choice simply for that reason. That is not to say that they don’t have well known designers, because they do, but they just have an amazing mix of new and established designers. TK Men also has very attentive staff that is equally unpretentious as the store they work in. Very cool store, I will definitely become a regular patron.
I spent a Saturday afternoon at Ruby Room thanks to some very generous friends who surprised me with a gift certificate for my birthday…still can’t thank you guys enough. I’m not much for pampering myself, but I am so glad that I did. First I got a massage that was both therapeutic and relaxing. The therapist was wonderful (and surprisingly strong). I walked out of the room in a blissful daze completely relieved of my stress and tension. Thankfully, Ruby Room’s atmosphere is inviting and relaxing without a touch of intimidation so I really felt comfortable. I followed the massage with an hour long Arcona facial with Jenifer. I kid you not, it may have changed my life. My skin looks fresh for the first time in many, many years. With Jenifer’s advice and technique I feel like I’m on my way to have truly good skin.
