Where is the Best Brunch in Houston, Texas?

The service was good and they have a small patio out front that is good for nice days. The menu has a lot of variety for vegetarians and/or health conscious eaters. The guacamole and chips appetizer was a good start. The guacamole was above average, the chips and salsa were fresh too. The rotisserie chicken was fantastic! It came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The gumbo was very good too if you’re okay with beans. It has a more authentic taste to it so start off with a cup if you’re unsure. I hear most everything on the menu is good and the Sunday brunch is a must have. Definitely plan on coming back.Pros + price, service, food, variety of foods to try, ambience (indoor patio)Cons – none. far, if you don’t live around montrose area.

Bistro Calais is one of our favorite afternoon getaways. We came upon the restaurant quite by accident late one night about 2 years ago, and have made it a point to return whenever we need an escape. The staff and service was and is always accomodating. The wine selections are nice, and priced accordingly. (something for everyone, including the budget concious) Mussels are always a favorite, as is the crusty french bread–wonderful starters. Lunch specials are well priced for the portions, and the options are endless. Especially nice are the choices for more timid or picky eaters, like my beloved. There’s always a sandwhich, fresh fish, poultry or beef selection to chose from. Leisurely glancing @ the back patio area, complete with cazebo, can lift the spirits and transport one out of a city that at times can overcrowded, noisy and lined with traffic. Our refreshing little getaway is highly recommended to our friends; as there is always a reason to return…perhaps one day we’ll make

The food was pretty good. I had Tenderloin Migas for Brunch [haven’t been for dinner]. They were alright- but the guacamole was great. It was very busy, it was sort of like a douchey mid town club just spilled out into the place. One of the few places I know that has bottomless mimosas [for $9 with an entree].I’ll try it again for sure. But they’ve got a great brunch menu that deviates from the norm.Pros + Good menu, bottomless mimosas, parkingCons – midtown sleaze crowd

We visited Guayabas Lating Grill on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 for a notable wine list tasting. The restaurant is located in the northwest part of Houston serving the Willowbrook and surrounding areas. The restaurant is unique in that it strives to provide Latin American Cuisine encompassing several South and Central America countries as well as Cuban cuisine specialties. The restaurant’s ambiance is perfect for the romantic special evening, the noise level is moderate and the selection of music takes you to a far away place making you feel like you are in South America, or Cuba. On this special occasion Guayaba Latin Grill served Spanish Tapas (Appetizers) with wine from Chile, Argentina and Portugal. The tapas were original in creativity and taste, they were delicious, and substantial enough not to be overwhelming, keep in mind we were going to taste six wines with six Appetizers, so the portion was important. We left the restaurant completely filled to say the least. The wine

Went on a Tuesday night with a business colleague. I’ve eaten here about 5 times in the last 15 years but this review is based on my most recent experience. The atmosphere is pretty hip. The menu options were good. Lots of continental types of cuisine with strong Asian influences (e.g., pork dumplings, Udon noodles). The wine selections went beyond California Chardonnay and Napa Valley Cabernet. We enjoyed a reasonably priced Mer Soleil Chardonnay (unoaked, Central Coast) that complemented our food nicely. My appetizer was a modern take on Fried Green Tomatoes and my dining companion had some Asian pork dumplings. Both were pretty tasty…but not “perfect.” The entrees were a Daily Special pork chop (Berkshire Farms?) and scallops. Both were very good…but not quite excellent. The server was an automaton…his advice was “I recommend the more expensive item.” Avoid him. He was a tall guy with short hair and some sort of facial hair. Should probably work at Joe’s Crab Sha
