Where is the Best Brunch in Hartford, Connecticut?
just wanted to take a moment to express my disappointment with the accommodations we were provided with on Valentine’s night. The Pond House decided to open up the banquet hall to accomodate more reservations. I realize that by opening up the banquet hall for more reservations you were able to increase your head count, however, the atmosphere was awkward at best, our table/chairs were glorified uncomfortable patio furniture, and I walked away from the experience feeling like I was the victim of a scam. I must say that the food was good, however, this did not make up for the lack of comfort, given the cost of the meal. I regret my decision to dine at the Pond House. While theymay have increased the customer count for one night, they definitely lost my repeat business.
My friends and I heard the Inn was recently bought and has a new chef so we decided to check it out. First of all, I love the building. It is so beautiful and full of history. I was very impressed with its inside appearance due to the changes. We sat in the Tavern and there was live music!!! AWESOME music. The food was SPECTACULAR!!!!! I haven’t eaten that well in so long it was unbelievable. I can’t stop thinking about it. It was different from anything in the area- really interesting spin on the food. Amazing flat bread which we split, and these really nachos with tuna that are asian style. I haven’t eaten that well for that price in a long time- we were very happy especially because we are trying to save money. I have been back twice with my family for brunch on Sunday yuummmm. The other time i went with my boyfriend and sat in the Forge which is such a romantic room and so unique! It is a converted blacksmith shop and the booths are the hold horse stables! So cool. I would h
Tisane has evolved over the years: boho/hipster joint, upscale teahouse/eatery, gay mecca, martini bar. It retains features of all of these but can’t be readily pigeonholed as any of them. The entrees are quite varied, uniformly delicious and moderately pricey. Drinks are reasonably priced. Service can be spotty, though regulars do get noticeably better service and iffy service seems to be confined to busy evenings. Most common server sin seems to be “slow to approach”. Minor peeve: music tends to be overly loud.Things to bear in mind about Tisane: – The place tends to fill up fast in the evenings, especially Tu, Th, Fr, and Sa. – The immediate parking lot is quite small and also tends to fill up. After 8.00 PM, parking for Tisane is allowed on the Wash Tub side of the parking lot; prior to this, you risk being towed. The parking lot of the set of stores across Farmington Avenue has designated parking spaces for Farmington Ave. businesses, including Tisane. – Whil
