We went to The Kitchen after 5280 made it seem like Colorado’s French Laundry. We were all pretty excited but the chaos ensued the second after we walked in the door. There is no discernible waiting area when you enter. You just kind of stand there until the hostess decides to stop talking to her emo friends sitting at the bar. We literally stood there for 3 minutes as she gabbed away. We finally got sat and literally waited 15 minutes before we were approached by anyone. The waitress did not offer an apology as asked us for a drink order as if we were bothering her. The drinks took 5 minutes and she forgot to even order my wife’s martini so another server had to pick up her slack. 10 minutes later we finally got an appetizer order in – the fava bean bruschetta and the duck confit. The bruschetta was bland and the confit was good but boring. I am not sure of the quality of everyone else’s food but I ordered the ribeye and it was incredibly overcooked. The rest of the night w

I used to work in the kitchen at the Broker in DTC. Worst and most disgusting place I’ve ever worked! First of all the “complementary” shrimp bowls they give at the beginning of the meal, I was instructed to re-use any cocktail sauce, lemons and shrimp that had already been to someone else’s table. If the shrimp smelled bad, I was instructed to simply wash it off and serve it. The grease underneath all the counter surfaces in the kitchen was about an inch thick. There was no designated smoking area so wait staff and cooks would smoke throughout the kitchen. The cooks also made it a habit to chew tabacco while on the cooking line.

Le Peep is not bad and because its a chain you pretty much can count on getting the same standard of food and service at every location you visit, but with a different ambience. In Boulder the location just outside of the huge local hardware is always bustling. If they’re super busy they might offer you the table next to the bathrooms. You’re welcome to decline, but they’ll entice you with a free Granma’s apple bun or some pastry with a similar name. We were convinced and gave it a shot. The free pastry is what you’d expect from something free. Its a cheap english muffin covered in butter, cinnamon and apple pie filling. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t have purchased it. The menu offers basic egg plates and lots of cleverly named concoctions. I went with a trapped egg in french toast. It was good and the portions quite generous, but the elaborate sounding combinations of flavors didn’t play out fully for me and still tasted pretty standard. Overall there is nothing wrong with Le Peep.

It’s as though you have stepped back in time as you walk towards the steps of this splendid restaurant. The setting put’s you in a relaxing mood with the Flatirons rasing out of the trees above you. The food and service let’s you continue that feeling of relaxation. Great place to take new comers to the Denver area.
