Where is the Best Brunch in Austin, Texas?

We always like the LOCAL recommendations for eating……….interestingly enough, it was not our hotel Valet, but he was a young man living in Austin, his whole life. We followed his suggestion, and were not disappointed!! Pecan crusted catfish to die for!!! Deep fried asparagus…..only in Texas!!! It was very good, but back to our Med diet!!! A Brownie, chocolate sauce,…

If I could give this restaurant 4.5 stars, I would. The most notable thing about FSM is the decor … it is very unique, interior Mexico authentic and romantic with a capital R. The food is positively some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. FSM has a full and pleasantly unusual menu. Their flour tortillas are so f/cking good – I don’t even like flour tortillas, but I ate every single one they brought me. The recommended wine was amazing. However, unless my Mexican food is doing something extra special like driving me home, it is not worth the prices this place is boldly asking. I will most definitely go back, but only when I have a few extra dollars to throw away in a WTF whirlwind.Pros + Very, very good foodCons – Both you and your date should bring a form of payment

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin; it also appears regularly on the Austin Chronicle’s best-of poll. The restaurant is in an old house with a patio and a garden out back; not only can you peruse the garden, but many of it’s contents regularly appear on the menu. The atmosphere is Austin casual, and the menu is veggie-heavy, but not vegetarian. Some of my favorite dishes include the goat-cheese and shrimp quesadillas, the mushroom crepes, the stuffed pasta shells, and the veggie plate, which includes your choice of three of the veggies of the day, salad or soup. The “house” feta cheese salad dressing is so good, they bottled it, literally – you can buy it at Central Market. The jalepeno corn muffins are just a little spicy, and usually served warm to melt the butter evenly. The food is fresh and delicious, with some nice variations on standards as well as new dishes. East Side prides itself on buying locally (what they don’t get out of the back!), and the freshnes

This is by far my favorite Trudy’s location. Although my favorite days to go are Wednesday and Thursday… decent amount of people but still prompt seating. I definitely stay away during the weekends… the wait can be an hour and half+ My favorite there is the stuffed avacado and the chorizo chicken. The mexican martini is good.. they have a pretty good sangria margarita. Oh and on your birthday you get a free margarita if you have your IDPros + unique food, good drinks, nice ambienceCons – service can be a nightmare on the weekends

This is a customer service review since that was what stood out most during my recent visit to Manuel’s with my boyfriend and another couple. The service and food were both very good. However, one of the people I was with objected to the preparation of one of his dishes and let the waitress know in the rudest way possible. The tone and content of his complaint was intended to make himself out to be an expert on mexican food (which he most certainly is *not*) and to make the waitress out to be someone who doesn’t know her job. I was too stunned to say anything to him at the time (pretty sure it wouldn’t have helped and might have made it worse). To her great credit, the waitress was very gracious and accommodating. So not only are the food and wine very good, the service is beyond professional and gracious.
