Where is the Best Brunch in Austin, Texas?
Our neighbor turned us onto Rome’s. Their pizza is outstanding. The selection of toppings is the most extensive I’ve found in Austin. And when you get your pizza, it’s absolutely bursting with the toppings — they don’t skimp on anything. They have a chicken piccata pizza that is just spectacular. Actually, I don’t think I can pick a favorite combination. Everything that we’ve ordered from there has far exceeded our expectations. If you haven’t yet discovered Rome’s, then this is the time to get over there and fall in love with the place.Pros + Outstanding food, huge choice of pasta, salads, sandwiches and pizza toppings
Came down for the Los Lonely Boys Concert, which by the way was fantastic and Stubb’s outdoor concert stage in the back was a reat place to watch and listen to music, A+. Now the food – ribs and chicken were OK, but the sides and appetizers needed a lot more taste than what was presented to us. The portions are difinitely small, surprisingly coming from a Texas B-B-Q joint and especially for the price your paying for them. Come here for the music, but you can find better elsewhere if you have the time. Pros + Music VenueCons – Appetizers and Sides need flavor
Although the competition in Austin for mexican food is tough, El Arroyo is what Austin’s all about. It’s not corporate like most of the others, and you can tell the big difference. The atmosphere is awesome and definately different than any other place you’ll find in Austin, it’s fun, service is good and straight to the point– if you want to have a good time, tell them, and they’ll show you a great time! The food could be better, but with a great atmosphere, great service, the price is right… El Arroyo is the place to be in Austin (especially after running/walking town lake, after class and work…especially for Brunch!)By the way- .99 margaritas on Thursdays are AWESOME! So are the 2 for 1 burgers on mondays (although it is a mexican restaurant- they have some of the best burgers in town!) (Ask for Torie- she’s the best server EVER!)Pros + Atmostphere, service, funCons – Parking, annoying birds if eating outside…
We were happy (and suprise) on Sat night I called at 730pm and got reservations at 8:30pm. Sure it’s summer but the economy has definitely opened up seating in our favorite places.Starlite was very nice, located downtown in the thick of all the fun. Valet the car and walk 3 doors down. You walk in to their hostess and a small bar scene of alterna-snob-service-industry types. But once you invade their territory you make it to the very nice and clean restaurant. The food was good – we enjoyed the oyster app, loved the tomato soup special (delicious) and then moved into main courses of a very nice seared tuna dish and the delicious lamb. Despite both of us having cauliflower side dished they were so different and excellent (the curry cauliflower was fantastic). We enjoyed the wine and Candide as well as the chocoilate dessert quite a bit.Really a nice spot, but expect to pay a little more than an average night out. Service was good although we sometimes felt rushed when they clea
I suppose I was expecting something spectacular in dining at Kerbey Lane for the very first time. While I lived in and visit Austin regularly, I never made it ’til this past Monday. We were seated quick enough, but, of course, we got there at about 1130pm, so I wasn’t too worried. Our server was nice enough, as servers go, too, but she wasn’t all that attentive. I had the migas, which, while they looked a little questionable, ended up being pretty solid. The place is super loud, though, even at 1130 or 12 at night, the crosses hanging everywhere are slightly unnerving, and the wait staff seems a little, well… untrained, maybe. As I stated, the waitress was nice, but she only came for a drink order, food order, and someone else delivered our food. Getting a refill was out of the question, and hot sauce for my migas wasn’t happening either.I’d probably go back if someone else was heading there, but it CERTAINLY doesn’t live up to its hype.Pros + Migas with black beans, I guess?
