Where is the Best Brooklyn Shop in New York, New York?
The clothes are nice however you can find these designers in Saks or other boutiques without the attitude from the Sales help. It is a shame that her Sales has so much attitide and rather talk on the phone instead of doing their job. When I spend $300.00 on a pair of pants I expect the Sales person to be helpful or nice. Sorry it just isn’t worth it to shop therePros + Nice selection of designersCons – Horrible Sales help with plenty of attitude
This is my FAVORITE shop in the burg. The prices fall right down the middle, and the style is uniquely Wendy. Her pieces make me feel relaxed yet unique. The overall style is laid-back rocker, western, art-teacher (if that makes any sense). Wendy also has this lovely knack for throwing in a little off-kilter humor in to her pieces. My favorite BBW piece is a white bib top with a fallen ice skater picking up her flowers off the rink, darkly hilarious.Be the finest looking frau in the hood and visit this wonderful shop.Pros + Unique, fun clothes that won’t break the bank…oh so New York.Cons – Wish there were more sale items, but I’ll take what I can get!
I love Cog and Pearl. Anywhere that supports and sells local artists’ work is going to get support from me. They have such a good eye, too. Everything they sell fits a sort of whimsical, earthy aesthetic that I really dig. I live in Los Angeles, and I’ve had to place orders over the phone; still a great experience. Their website is really stunning and nice to play with. I’ve e-mailed back and forth with the owners several times with questions about different items?they’re always super quick to respond and really friendly. Check this place out!Pros + Excellent Customer Service, Local Artists’ Work, Great Gifts
I recently read about Loopy Mango in New York Times and it sounded like a great place to visit on my next trip to NY and I go there quite often. I don’t normally have time to go to Brooklyn, but I was so glad I did–I’ve never been to Dumbo before and the area is so cute. You get a great view of Manhattan skyline. Anyway, back to Loopy Mango. I picked up a couple of dresses and a cashmere sweater, everything fit perfectly and one of the dresses was by a new designer Mischen (I haven’t heard that label before) and I absolutely loved it. I also fell in love with one of the mirrors there, but since I live in Chicago, it would be too expensive to ship it there, I wish I lived in New York! Also, there’s a very cute children’s store called Pomme around the corner from Loopy Mango–they have the most adorable children’s clothes I’ve ever seen!Pros + great selection of new designers, excellent pricesCons – I wish I lived in NY!!!
Eh, sorry…but Jumelle isn’t all that unique. Perhaps for Williamsburg (but still, Oak and Ylli carry much more unique and fashion-forward stuff), but not for the city. If anything, these girly-type boutiques are a dime a dozen right across the river. That said, the shop is clean and the clothes are organized well…but the owner is a bit self-absorbed and disingenuous. Instead of being honest about things that were too big on me (I know what my size is, I’m over 35, sheesh!), she kept saying that everything looked good, great, awesome, blah blah. Sorry, but I’d rather spend my hard-earned money at boutiques where the people working will at least be honest about how things look on me…instead of so flagrantly pushing sales.Pros + clean, well-organized airy spaceCons – not such a unique selection…you can find these labels in so many other boutiques
