Where is the Best Breakfast in Charlotte, North Carolina?
Good Ol’ Days is a great family restaurant with burgers, pizza, breakfast all day, and plain ol’ good, old-fashioned food. The 50s-60s-70s themes are such fun for olsters and youngsters. The food has gotten much better with the new owners, too. We really enjoy our visits there now. The waitresses dress in circle skirts, and the oldy cars are nostalgic fun. Not perfect, but better than most places in our opinion!Pros + Food was wholesome and better than I remember back when….Cons – No privacy, but great for the family
This restaurant is one of those neighborhood hang outs where you can get anything from liver mush to a bowl of she-crab soup. Eddie’s Place and Danny’s Too can offer it’s customer quite a selection of tastes. They usually have specials that are unique in their own way, one of them being my favorite, an omlette with blackened shrimp, feta cheese and spinach. Sounds interesting I am sure, but it was excellent. Thier bruches are to die for, plenty of food for a great price, but you have to get there early in order to get a table. In addition to their brunches, they have excellent overstuffed sandwiches and an interesting selection of micro-brews and spirits. The staff is very friendly, but at times a little slow, but that is part of the charm in this very laid back establishment. On the weekends, they have music and get a crowd going. One thing you must try if you go is a cup of the she-crab soup. It is out of this world. Oh yeah, grab a tootsie roll on the way out.
The food was average, although the portions were very large. I feel we paid more than we should have since over half of the food went to waste. If you are like me and don’t like to waste, be sure to consider large portions before ordering. I don’t think we will go back since we could get the same quality at a better price elsewhere. They didn’t have hash browns or biscuits and gravy which was also a disappointement.Pros + Large portions, Service, Quick In and OutCons – Large portions, Expensive, No wait on a Sunday
The thing I like about living in the South is the love of good food that brings folks together. When I eat at the “Cup” I can expect to break bread with folks from all walks of life. There are businessmen in their starched white shirt as well as construction workers and businesswomen in tailored suits. It’s a melting pot of society with the common factor being the pursuit of good food that makes no apologies. The collard greens are some of the best this side of my Aunt Ida’s kitchen in upper Pickens County. The fried chicken was a five napkin cleaner-up but the grease makes your lips feel alive. The cobbler was outstanding as I expected it would be. The atmosphere is a little loud and there’s this beat up Rock-ola jukebox loaded with vintage R&B. I loved the joint, the food and the way Carolinians mix in this funky little cafe.
