I would love to tell you great things about Pete’s, like the value, the outstanding traditional diner fare, and the entertainment value of watching the very friendly staff maneuver the tiny space with amazing efficiency, but then you might go there, and frankly, the line is too long already. Find another breakfast place…Pete’s is MINE! And if you do go, don’t show up with six people. It’s counter service only, and you can feel the rage directed at large parties by other patrons.

Golden West has a lot going for it, but also a few shortcomings. (Despite Citysearch’s claims, they don’t serve “South American” food; they serve American food with Southwestern influences – imagine a typical diner/cafe menu where ingredients like beans, huevos rancheros, and avocado play a larger-than-usual role.) I’ve had brunch and dinner there several times, and it’s always been very good. The portions are generous, especially for brunch, and vegetarian options abound. The atmosphere is comfortable, casual, and unique; the clintele is split about evenly between young hipsters and whitebread nuclear families. (Go figure.) In fact, it’s just about perfect…as long as you’re not in a hurry. If they’re busy (and they’re always busy), you’ll probably have to wait at least a few minutes for a table (but they do have comfortable couches to sit on while you wait). The staff is friendly and, as far as I can tell, well-meaning, but they’re disorganized and a little spacey – you’ll probably

I work/have lived in Baltimore for years and was asked by an out-of-towner where he should visit while in town. Paper Moon. To me, it is a representative microcosm on the city – shocking, a little trashy, a little scary (depending on what time of nite you show up), filled with ornery characters, both working behind and seated at the counter. Everyone is just trying to make a buck. The food is what it says it is – an attempt at healthy food… which would explain why some of the dishes seem overpriced. As for the atmosphere, the designer is immensely talented, although this place is growing a bit stagnant.Bottom line: Great place to visit, not a great place to frequent.Pros + Free Parking, 24 Hour ServiceCons – Dangerous Neighborhood, Long Waits for 24 hr. I started coming to this place when I was thirteen, back in 1995, and I have been coming ever since. I’ve since moved away from Baltimore, having lived in Los Angeles and Raleigh, NC, and I have to say that this is still my favorite greasy spoon. I mean, it’s a diner that serves beer, first of all. And the crowning jewel is the crabcake.I grew up in Baltimore. I grew up eating delicious crabcakes at street fairs, carnivals, slapped off a spatula onto a plate in my grandmother’s kitchen, and all over the city. Since leaving B-more, I’ve ordered crabcakes in various establishments in all levels of restaurants across the nation, which have never equaled the quality of the humble Baltimore crabcake. And Sip & Bite’s version is by far and away the best of the bunch.Lots of crabmeat, tender and unobtrusive breading, a delicate flavor and fork-tender consistency make this crabcake the staple of my visits to the old hometown. The fries are crispy and not too salty, the pickled beets

My boyfriend, son and I are frequent customers of Shea’s for breakfast. The food and portions are very good and contrary to the first review…
