Where is the Best Brazilian Bikini Wax in Portland, Oregon?
This past Autumn, many of Portland’s Yuko clients were frantic to learn that Ziva’s very own Kristoffer, super best Yuko dude in Portland, was departing Ziva for the East coast. Over the past 2 months, as I kept staring at my 4 inches of emerging silver frizz, I wrung my hands, read tons of on-line reviews about other Yuko trained stylists in Portland but remained paralized by intertia and fear of a ‘blind date’ with an unknown, chemical welding stylist. My fear of the unknown included the new Yuko stylist at Ziva as well. But, at least I knew that she had enjoyed the opportunity of working with Kristoffer prior to his departure. So, I called Joe Snell, owner and manager, and explained my fears;…broken hair, burned head and escalated cost due to less experienced technician working slower (Kris was VERY quick and productive). I went to Blooming Moon for the first a few months ago and saw Ginny for a lash tint and wax and loved it! I was torn because I had another esthetician that I had been going to for over a year and was happy with the her work but not necessarily the whole salon that I had to go to to see her. I’m very picky about my brow and lip wax, my eyebrows keep on growing and having hair on your upper lip is never fun so I am always picky on who is going to do a good job with the brow shape for my face and not leave my eyebrows too thin and red and my lip puffy and pink. Ginny knows whats up and took care of me! The whole atmosphere at Blooming Moon was great, the location is close to my work, and the price is well worth it for the awesome services that they have. I went back this time with my husband, he got an perfect massage from Racheal and can’t wait to go back. Considering he is a guy who is not into the whole “spa” thing that I get excited about he was really impressed and felt comfortable
This review is long over due. I have a lot to say. If you’re looking for the nutshell so you can move on and just go there already, here it is:I’ve been to many of the waxing places in Portland in my many years there, and Urban Waxx is hands down, THE BEST WAX you will find. Reasonably priced, amazingly-wonderful staff, non-intimidating environment and consistent! Boom. Done.The less nutshelled version:When I found UrbanWaxx a year or two ago, it was after a long string of tried places, bad waxes, money spent and frustration. Part of the problem was that if I happened to find a place that was decent, I’d go back again and it would end up being awful. We’re talking, spilled wax, bruises (!) and messy work. So, it goes without saying that my 1st experience at Urban was stellar but the real 5 star quality was when I returned for a second (and 3rd and 4th…) time and received the same awesome service. I cant say enough wonderful things about Nickol…. Im so impressed with her work on my hair. Nickol has been my stylist for years and I cant imagine having anyone but her color or cut my hair. She is a genius when it comes to color! She talks with you on what you are wanting done and really cares about the health of your hair which Ive never encountered before. Im used to paying someone to do what I ask and never received any input, even if what Im asking for will damage my hair, which I may not be aware of. Nickol wants the best for your hair and gives tips on keeping your hair beautiful. Im always completely satisfied with the results. After one such appointment, Nickol described to me the thermal straightening process after I complained one rainy day how my hair just seems a mess for so many months during the year since portland is so rainy. This has to be one of the best facials I’ve ever gotten. Lacey was very informative and offered great tips on taking care of my skin. She didn’t push any products on me and seemed very genuine in her advice as to how I could best maintain my skin between appointments. I booked another appointment right then and there! I loved my skin post facial and unlike some facials I’ve gotten in the past, my skin looked and felt amazing. Oh and the warm booties…AMAZING!My only suggestion would be that mirrors be installed in the treatment rooms for those that receive facials and don’t get directed to the restroom after their treatment. After my facial was completed, I was left to get dressed and try and make myself look presentable enough to walk out into the lobby to pay and walk onto NW 23rd unaware of what I looked like. I felt a little self conscious already with bare face, but to not know if I had red blotchy skin and hair faux pas was a little frustrating and sort of sent me out
