Where is the Best Boutique Hotel in Chicago, Illinois?

This is a great little antique hotel for the money. The hotel has a great “old city inn” feel. But despite it’s age, it is well kept and updated. The rooms we stayed in were small, but for just two people it was fine – anymore than that and space would have been a real issue. It’s location is great for getting around the city on the EL because it is just steps away from the Belmont stop. The one problem is that it IS just steps away from the station. I would recommend the hotel only if you can stay on the east side of the hotel, away from the station. As we discovered the first night at the hotel, trains come and go at all hours and you get to hear it all if you’re on the west side. The double whammy was that they were performing construction on the station in the middle of the night as well. Needless to say, we didn’t get much sleep that night. But, we then requested a room on the other side of the hall, and the manager pulled some strings the following morning to make it happen, whic

i treated my best friend to a weekend in chicago for her birthday, and chose the hotel allegro because of the location and the fun atmosphere. knowing we were only going to be there overnight, the small rooms described by others on this site didn’t factor in to my decision. yes, the room was small, but it was more than adequate, and we had a wonderful view. yes, we could see minor disrepair in the room–small cracks in the corners of the wall, exposed pipes in the bathroom–but THIS IS AN OLD CHICAGO BUILDING! for the price, the hotel allegro is a great deal. one thing: for a long stay, or for those trips where we might be staying at the hotel more than going out and sightseeing, i might not choose the hotel allegro…mainly because of the small rooms. for our purposes, though, it served us well.Pros + short walk to theatre, reasonably priced, attentive staffCons – small rooms

Stayed in the Burnham for 3 nights in September 2009. We won this hotel on Priceline and were very lucky with the Burnham. This hotel is just great: incredible staff, central location, amazing building. The Kimpton Group obviously did a great job in restoring this historic landmark! The rooms were smaller than average, but they were nicely decorated and added…

This hotel is in a very busy location, but is nestled quietly between Michigan and State. The lobby is nice with a grand piano (not playable, however). There is a nice fragrance to the hotel as you walk in. The service is not the greatest, and there is not as much pampering as some of the finer hotels offer. My room was small, cozy, and had a fabulous view. The travelers who stayed there tended to be younger Bohemians.

We had a group in town for a conference at Navy Pier and had a total of 7 rooms. We loved the fact that we were walking distance from great shopping, the Miracle Mile, lots of restaurants. The rooms, although small and older, were very clean and adequate. The service from the hotel staff was excellent. The lower level hotel restaurant provided a nice menu, good service, and very good food. Overall, we didn’t have a complaint and would stay there again.
