For the casual coffee/book shoppers that want to browse the latest bored-house-wife thrillers and pick up Harry Potter for their kids on the way out; don’t come here. This is for devout book lovers who, um, love books. It is cozy, warm, slightly musty, and completely another world. A world of books.Pros + huge selection, eclectic inventory, cozy atmeclectosphereCons – parking street only
I’ve been a regular customer for several years, and have always been happy with the selection and service. If the Norwood location doesn’t have an issue, they’re glad to call the Fairfield location and ship it over, or vice versa. They’re also willing to help promote local events with a window shelf for flyers. Aside from comics, it’s a great place to find current movie posters and collectibles.Pros + easy to find, good selectionCons – parking,
Why do ALL “Half Price Books” stores *insist* on hiring punk rockers as clerks? Every single person who works in these places has the look and attitude of the guitarist from “Nirvana”. Is working there really so awful, they must insult everyone who walks through the door? And FORGET selling anyhting here. Fifty cents for a DVD purchased at $20.00? I think not. Fortunately, the selection in these stores (books, music, any media you want) is wonderful! Makes it worth gritting your teeth for ten minutes while these OSU dropouts make wisecracks about short hair…Remember, this company DOES have a website with an open “customer comment” page. Use frequently! Maybe management will start enforcing courtesy upon their employees.Pros + Terrific selection!Cons – Awful, terrible, rude nasty clerks
