Where is the Best Blues Club in New York, New York?
I am from the south and as someone who prides herself on knowing good bbq I am very skeptical of BBQ places in NY. However, Blue Smoke/ Jazz Standard delivers in ways I could only dream of. The pulled pork sanwich left me remembering my childhood in Macon, GA. The sweet tea, though not true southern style, was a decent substitute. he fried green tomatoes were a little fancy for a southerner but they tasted like the ones my mother makes. Overall, I would give this place a 10 for NY BBQ and a 8 for true southern style- but that is saying a lot! Jazz below is fantastic. This is one of my new fave spots in the city. Only complaint- they didn’t know what brunswick stew is. I sometimes forget that maybe you can’t get everything in New York! God Bless Macon, GA!Pros + Pulled Pork, Sauce, Fried Green tomatoes
I went with a friend to catch a show last night. The waitress came over and asked for our drink orders. We decided to order food and drinks. 2 hamburgers, 2 waters, a beer, and a coke. We waited a little bit but finally received a beer and a coke. No waters. I finished my coke and my friend finally contacted the waitress and asked for a water for him and a coke for me. He received a water and I didn’t receive my coke. By this point, I was a little frustrated. I didn’t want to cause any problems so I figured I would just go up to the bar and ask for a coke. I went up to the bar and asked for a coke and instantly the bartender had an attitude, “Don’t you have a table?” to which I replied “Yes” …”Why don’t you order a coke from your waitress?”… “I did..she didn’t get it…that’s why I’m over here”. Why do I have to explain myself to this bartender? She should be doing her job and getting me a drink. She finally got me a drink with an attitude. A terrible attitude. Fill
I am the best friend of Boobiet03 that took her on 4/7/07 to The Den. I have been to The Den a few times. The owner, Josh has really put together an eccletic, different experience. First off, the menu is different. The names of the drinks and also the food is eye-catchy. You have to laugh when you see the names. They remind you of “I’m A Get You Sucka”, if you ever saw that movie. It has a 70’s feel to this spot. It is architecturally appealing to the eye. The artwork is nice. Exposed brick and a lot of wood and natural tones. I ordered the salmon and I thought it was amazing! I usually order the chicken and waffles but chose to try something new this time. Our reservationist Onya is great and our server Larissa was kind, kept checking on us, made sure our glasses stayed full, was courteous and helpful. The customer service at The Den is a 10+. The place is small but I have to not agree with the other people. It is NOT just a place to get drunk. I had fun. People just moved some of the
My boyfriend’s favorite spot. The place is on the second floor, if you walk too fast you might miss it but once inside this place feels so right. The bands and artist are both talented and play with a lot of soul. The performances were very entertaining. On the establishment side, if you get here a bit too late, you may not be able to grab a seat so you’re better off getting here earlier, have a few drinks before each set. This place gets extremely crowded specially on weekends. The only draw that I have is that they don’t serve food which could come in quite handy after a few drinks. Oh and there’s no cover if you go earlier, only a two minimun drink per person at tables.
