Where is the Best Blues Club in New York, New York?
A great place to people watch, while waiting between courses… the service was lagging, but to their end they were extremely busy. By far the show stopper of the evening was the filet mignon. Tender, juicy, and done perfectly at medium rare. The salmon was good, but a little over cooked, which surprised me, as the filet was so well done.Definitely worth checking out, but I think I’d be more happy going with a large group next time around.Pros + food,service,ambiance
This is one of NYC’s best Jazz Clubs. $20 cover includes one drink. This place books GREAT Jazz, and the patrons are true music lovers. Even when the place is totally filled, the patrons hardly speak while the band is playing. The staff is very friendly, the patrons respect the music and don’t party and carry on while the artists are performing. Great music all night, and from about 1:30AM on, there is only a 10 dollar cover and GREAT jam sessions by some of NYC’s best Jazz Musicians. I met up with my girlfriend after work on a Friday for some jazz. We got there for a six pm show. The place had a reasonable sized crowd. It looked like there were a few followers of the particular band from the pre-set chit chat. The bartenders were friendly and the service was good. Drink prices averaged out to about six or seven bucks a drink, considering the three hours of music, it was a good deal. The negative that my girlfriend agreed with me on was that it was too loud. For the size of the place the volume could be lower. Maybe it was this particular act but it seemed unnecessary to individually mic the two horn players. They can acoustically produce enough sound unlike say an upright bass. I could me nitpicking but whatever. Bottom line: The music was good, the staff was cool and it had that village vibe to it. great place for an late afternoon or early evening drink with friends, especially during the summer months, great lighting, good service and very french 🙂 i enjoy having a glass of ricard (very french anise drink) and a light snack of cheese plate or avacado toast…music can range from avant-garde jazz, world music and/or williamsburg hipster rock…but, free of charge to dine and listen! don’t forget to tip the musicians…they earn solely on our (as customers) tips…Pros + atmosphere, serviceCons – can be noisy at times
i have to give swing 46 an mediocre rating because it’s an average of two parts: the food, which was overpriced for what it is, and the music, which was wonderful. my bf and i went for dinner and dancing on a sat night- there is a lesson at 9 before the dancing begins which is nice but i suspect that everyone else there did not actually need the lesson except for us! we were those amateurs all over the dance floor! the waiter was very accommodating and though we weren’t in the main room (we made reservations that day and i was told on the phone that we could not be seating in the main room) because it wasn’t very crowded we were able to keep our table the whole night to come back for drinks between sets. i cant see how other reviewers complain about this – if you make your reservations late how are they supposed to give you a table that someone else has already reserved?? anyway, there were some negative parts of the experience- namely, the food. my scallops were good, but not $26 good
