Where is the Best Bloody Mary in Portland, Oregon?
Went here in search of a gigantic hamburger known as the “Ridiculous Burger”, a one pound beef patty stuffed with prosciutto, salami, blue cheese and topped with three kinds of cheese, bacon, mushrooms, peppers, onions, DELICIOUS tomato aioli, and a portabella mushroom. Boy did it deliver. Forgot to ask what kind of beef they used but it was hand formed and delicious. Carries a hefty $17 price tag but could easily feed two. The fries are perfect (for my taste at least) thick, golden and very crispy. The service was solid, greeted right away and well taken care of. The only complaint I had was that they don’t serve appetizers during brunch hours, yeah kinda lame. But overall, I’d recommend this for burgers and fries, not sure about the entrees but I plan on trying them when I go back. Pros + Top notch burgers and fries, good serviceCons – No appetizers during lunch?
I’ve been to Muu-muus a few times, so when we were deciding on a lated night dinner this Thursday during the holiday season, we both thought Muu-Muus was just what we were looking for. We walked in and were surprised that even though people were smoking, it smoke in the air wasn’t as bad as other bars (a plus). The atmosphere was great, good music playing, many people inside, but we didn’t feel like sardines in a can (a plus). After sitting down we ordered a peppermint patty (delicious winter drink) and something resembling a mojito which both came promptly and tasted great (two pluses). Our server was very nice, attentive, and helpful (plus). Food came very quickly and was yummy (plus). HOWEVER, just after our food was set on the table, the music changed from a nice worldly tune to “Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo.” (This is a song about a piece of holiday feces that talks, walks, and sings in the cartoon show South Park). Not the kind of song you want to listen to while eating.
This restaurant is a gem, set in what I believe is an old Dairy Queen or other fast food building. The food is seasonal, with a specials menu that usually is almost half the size of the regular menu. The quality of the fresh and perfectly cooked sea food is beyond compare in the Portland area. If this restaurant was downtown, it would be impossible to get a table! Everything is made from scratch, from the wonderful soups, to the fantastic scones that accompany your breakfast selection on the weekends. Fresh Salmon or Halibut dishes run are under $18, including soup or salad, and the portions are large. I usually cannot pass up the crab cakes, which have ALOT of wonderful crab in them, and are always cooked perfectly (never greasy). The cheap eats menu is great, served during certain hours at dinner, this menu has 5-7 selections for $2.95, with a selection that changes each month. Some of the servers are less than attentive, but this appears to be because this place is a little
My wife and I have gone to Genie’s off and on for years, and always liked the food enough to put up with the badand unfriendly service. Than we had a baby, and wegot treated with passive agressive cooler than thoughhipster art school drop out angst ( especially by the female servers) until we ran into Theran. I’m probablyspelling his name wrong, but he is a tall blond guythat rocks. If you get him, you will have a wonderful time and enjoy the food. Heaven help you if you havea young child with the ” Lady ” servers. Good luck!Pros + Good food, great Eggs BeneCons – Unfriendly service,
