Where is the Best Biker Bar in New York, New York?
Lucky 13 is a nice touch to this area. If your sick of all the scenester bars with people thinking they are too cool to talk to you… Then make the trip to Lucky 13. I’ve been in there a few times. And being new to the city I knew no one. Within the first 10 minutes of being in there one of the owners had introduced me to everyone! Not what you’d expect from a ‘metal’ bar. The other owner, Melody, is an awsome bartender. She even invented a vegan white russian that is absolutely delicious! She also made me feel totally at home here. And all the other patrons give this bar a total family feeling. Well, if your family was covered in tattoos. Even if your not from this area… it’s totally worth it. Make the trip!Pros + The staff, drinks and patrons are awsome!
Some friends and I came into New York this past week for my birthday and stumbled upon Posh after a Monday night out in Hell’s Kitchen. After we left at 4am, we decided to return on Tuesday and Wednesday night as well, each night as good as the one before it! The bartenders were beyond personable (not to mention nice to look at), the drinks cheap and well-made, and the music beyond good. AND you drink for FREE on your birthday!! Who does that?! Next time I come to New York, I will definitely be stopping by again. Special shoutout to Jeff and Anthony for making my birthday on Monday night that much more awesome, in addition to the other bartenders we met on Tues and Wed (ah can’t remember their names though!).Whoever said this bar has changed “for the worse” obviously doesn’t appreciate a great little secret in HK ;-)Pros + Most friendly bartenders in NYC, tasty drinks, cheap pricesCons – I did hear some Top 40 songs played more than once, long line for bathroom
I just went out on a date in this little lounge bar the other night. It was beautiful. The lighting, the furniture, the atmosphere. Its small enough to be comfy, but roomy enough to be luxurious. The service was pleasant and quick. It was a great place for a first date. The only complaint I have was the bathroom was a little dirty. I realize that that is pretty common all over New York, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. It won’t stop me from coming back to this place. I really loved it. Pros + decor and serviceCons – bathroom
I’ve been here a few times for the Friday night Poetry Slam and its a nice place to get some “urban culture”. Get there 1/2hour early (9:30) if you expect a seat, otherwise you’ll find yourself on top of the piano or fire escape It’s $10 at the door and the only thing the “bar” serves are beers and wine. The bartender was rude and demanded a tip even before giving me my drink. Drink afterwards, no reason to tip just for taking the cap off my Corona ($4). It has a small homey feel, red brick walls and a 4’x4′ stage. Slams last until 1-2am. 3-4 poets compete, 3 poems each and audience members are given score cards. The highest and lowest scores are dropped, remaining 3 scores are averaged, at the end of the highest scorer gets the biggest cash prize, others get a smaller fraction.Pros + Nice, laid back spot, "authentic" new yorkCons – bartender, SMALL
The bar is a reflection of a unique mind and personality. I think in his last life Jimmy was Gomez Adams. He travels in a hearse; there are Goth type objects, 60’s pinups, and Dancing Dominic all over his place. (Dancing Dominic is the Mascot-Icon of the bar and made the trip /in memory only/ from 9th Ave. Let me Explain the Jukebox. I can’t.It has Indy, Peggy Lee, Metal, Rock, Johnny Cash, Country-Punk, Neil Diamond, Ramones, and Sinatra. But I don’t think Elvis. I have to check on that. There are 2 VCR’s that show rock concerts and cult movies (and some movies I have never seen before) on 4 monitors around the bar.The bargirls $pit fire; for real; 151 Rum and a Zippo and they are all set. There is a great deck / patio that holds probably 40 people; so you can smoke, drink, and raise a lot of hell; there are no neighbors, because it is $mack in the middle of a warehouse district. And I saw a grill, so I’d guess they cook outside in the good weather. You are goings
