Cali was recommended to me by a co-worker. When I got back from my lunch break, I thanked her. $3.75 for a hearty sandwich, chips and a drink; and all with friendly service. It?s a mom and pop kind of place, so during a peak time like lunch, it took a little time to get my sandwich. It was worth the wait. Zarahw is right about the amount of meat on the sandwich, sort of. There?s enough meat to be satisfying, just not enough for the size of the roll it comes on. A little Sriracha sauce to moisten that roll up and you?re good to go! It?s hard to find, on the south side of Glissan next to Plaid Pantry, but it?s worth an extra spin around the block looking for it.Pros + Great PricesCons – 3 tables = Take out food

I have visited this restaurant 4 times now. The first 2 were fabulous. I tried the Rueben w/Pastrami my first time and I was very impressed. I sat at the bar counter in front of the grill and watched the cook work his magic. He was quick but very diligent. The second time I ordered the roast beef sandwich. Content again and impressed. At that point I had eaten here twice and only by myself. I was ready to really talk this place up. I visited again with a good friend and of course was bragging about how good the food was there. Service had always been sloppy and slow but the food made up for it. Anyway, my friend ordered the corn beef sandwich and I, the chicken salad. Mine was fine, potato salad is always good on the side, FYI. However, my friend’s sandwich was dry, sloppy and resembled something that would be in a packed lunch thrown together in a hurried rush to get out the front door and only to make sure you had something, anything to put in your stomach for the d

Gretchen’s is a special place run with love from a wonderful gal….. Everything on the menu is fantastic, always. I now just ask what she wants to feed me, I can’t choose anymore……. Go with an empty belly and you will be more than satisfied when you leave. And you’ll be back time and time again.Pros + Best sandwiches in town, homemade soups too…Cons – Only serves breakfast and lunch!!!
