Where is the Best Beer Selection in Portland, Oregon?

The beer selection on tap is amazing, over 100+ and I’m not even a beer drinker. Their happy hour menu and pricing is unrivaled and their specialty cocktails (my fave is the Hot & Passionate) are worth writing home about. All in all, a great bar and even better happy hour. Pros + 100+ beers on tap, delicious well priced happy hour foodCons – Fills up quickly, noise level can get loud

All of the food on the entire menu is only $3.50 – a great variety of typical McMenamins fare (salads, sandwiches, burgers). The cocktails are reasonably priced, too. I had an amaretto espresso concoction that was absolutely divine, especially considering the chilly evening. The cosmo was splendid as well. Service is also typical McMenamins – well-meaning but sketchy in the attention department.Pros + tasty foods, delicious drinks, funky areaCons – chilly, marginal service

This place is basically a lovely, sprawling compound of little bars and places to discover. They also offer free music most nights of the week. Add in their own wines and beers and it sounds like nirvana. That’s what I’m always hoping for, anyway, but it never works out. Most of the staff acts as if they’re too hip to be bothered, and your presence is an inconvenience to them. The wait to be seated is always ridiculous in the pub, even when I can see empty tables. The food is just cranked out–not terrible, but nothing you couldn’t get at a cafeteria. Even the beers are a crapshoot.I still go for the music, but that’s an exercise in frustration too. For some reason they can’t be bothered to put WHERE the music is going to be on their web calendar. If you call to inquire, they may or may not bother to pick up the phone. And if you do find out which building, you better already know where that is on the grounds. There’s no map of the maze of buildings (which should be right on the web

We were recommended to Higgins by a Portland foodie for its Northwestern cuisine. I don’t know too much about Northwestern cuisine, but I tend to think of fish. My cod was over a corn bread mixture…

This unassuming little place tucked into Southeast Portland is the perfect spot for escaping the scene. Full of Reed students and laid-back hippie types, its completely casual and friendly. It’s easier to score a pool table here than at most places.Pros + pool tables, games, atmosphere
