Where is the Best Barber in New York, New York?

I always have a little anxiety pre-first time visit at a new salon. I was immediately put at ease when I walked in- what a friendly, fabulous receptionist! I worked in customer service for many years, and I really appreciate being treated so well. I felt like I’d been coming here for years. I got there early, and was still seen almost immediately after I arrived. I never felt as if they stylists were rushed or that I wasn’t being given their full attention, even though it was a busy Saturday. Not once in 25 years of getting my haircut have I ever had a stylist show the genuine interest and concern in making me look my best, that these two did! I only wish I’d found Bodhi sooner…so I would not have suffered as long as I did with unmanageable, dry hair that didn’t suit my style or personality. Adeline discussed at great length with me what would look best for me, while also really listening to what I wanted. My color looks AMAZING! I’ve received so many compliments – My boyfriend say

Upon walking into the salon I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. There is no “snotty” attitude (and I had accidently forgotten my first appointment the week before) – just acceptance. I had my hair cut by Timothy – what an amazing listener. He did exactly what I asked for and couldn’t be any sweeter. At first, I was a little worried that he really did listen to me and left my hair a bit long (no one ever listens so I stress the length) while taking off just enough and that he wasn’t creative. I was worried that the cut I asked for lacked cutting edge style. I was so wrong!! As the days pass I get more and more compliments on my hair from “wow, your hair has great shape”, to “did you just get longer layers” (I have always had long layers), to “your hair even looks gorgeous in a ponytail”. Any way that I wear it men and women compliment my new ‘do. It is even more manageable and blowdrying time is less.Basically, I think Timothy made the layers I had been getting before from

I found Anthony in 1980, shortly after I’d moved to New York. There was a transit strike at the time, and I had to walk home several miles every day. One evening, I set as a goal to look in the window of every barber shop I passed, to find the very best in Manhattan. The best turned out to be Anthony. I could see that his haircuts were absolutely superior; I could not have guessed, as I looked through his window, that he was a published poet, a student of the arts, and one of the most thoroughly warm and decent people I would ever meet. After all these years, Anthony knows my hair far better than I ever will, and I completely trust his aesthetic judgment. What sets his hairstyles apart is that you leave with a completely natural appearance — you look your best without looking like someone styled your hair. This naturalness, I think, is one reason why performing artists often become his loyal clients (as you’ll see in other reviews). The nice thing about trusting your hair styli

Geoff cut my hair for four years when I lived in NYC. I dearly miss his haircuts, color, the whole deal. He really is talented. Lee in KC (with a very mediocre cut)

This is a comment for the review “Not What the Video Seems”This review is very strange to me. It seems to be more a personal attack than a review. My professionalism has never been in question in the many years I have been a stylist. I am sure that the advice I gave you in regards to your hair was very accurate. If I suggested a cut, I am sure I explained why your hair needed to be cut. As a wearer of long hair for years, I am a long hair advocate and do not cut clients hair unnecessarily. In the end, it is your decision whether you take my advice. To write a personal attack on me and my staff is unprofessional on your part and with communication, this issue could have been resolved. In the future, I suggest you commit to one stylist who knows your hair history. My track record is impeccable and speaks for itself. I wish you luck with your hair and hope your stylists in DC and Atlanta can get it in the condition youare looking for. With love from Carla and the staff of S
