Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Salt Lake City, Utah?
the brisket was some of the best ive had. nice and tender and flavorful. the sauces were fantastic. the ribs that the guy next to me got looked AWESOME… didnt try em. the sides were great too (jambalaya especially). there were only couple problems i had: 1) they were clearly busy enough to have two or three more people on the wait staff… that made service VERY slow. 2) it’s a bit expensive for food served on a styrofoam plate with plastic utensils. i have NO problem with BBQ on styrofoam. thats the way its supposed to be. but if they’re gonna put on the “down home country bbq” front, why make it $20 a person after tax and tip? back in kentucky i could get the same down home bbq for $8-10. that being said, im going tomorrow for the burnt ends. it really was really good food. and im sure they’re usually better about service from what i hear. The baby back ribs are amazingly soft . This is the best thing on the menu. These ribs have a sweet, extremely mild flavor (perfect for those who do not like bbq). The brisket is also soft and without flavor. The onion chips (tempura style) are different, and the best of the side dishes. The chopped pork (in some liquid), is just awful. Beans, potato salad, and coleslaw, are to be avoided. The bbq sauce is little better than ketchup. The lemon/limeade is not even close to Chick-fil-a. The decor however, is attractive. I want to like this place. But, because of the mild-to-bland tasting food, and forgetable sides; I would not drive past Q4U, or even Pat’s. Very interesting and enjoyable! They bring the meats around to you on long sticks and cut it off for you right at your table. Very good side and salad bar. This would not be a place to go if you were wanting a quiet or romantic meal as there is so much interaction with the staff. But again, it is a great place to eat all you want and the food is fantastic! I will go back often. Pros + All you can eat, great food and lots of choices in every meal.Cons – Busy and lots of staff interaction
We often frequent SugarhouseBBQ when we are in a hurry or don’t feel like getting dressed to the nines for a meal out. The restaurant is very casual as you would expect from a BBQ joint and can range from very quiet midweek to teeming on weekends. As such the atmosphere can be very jekyll and hyde in nature, a ghost town one minute and a cacophony of noise the next.The quality of the food is top notch. I will admit to not being a conniseur of BBQ by any means, hey I’m English. We don’t have it coursing through our veins ike you Americans do. In spite of this though, I have never had anything I thought was less than great. From the hordes of people hunched over great towering plates of ribs it seems conclusive to me. Their sandwhiches and sides make for an easy quick meal if your in a hurry and at $6 a sandwhich knocks the socks off the rubbish served at fast food joints for the same price. Just a year ago, an old friend took me to his high school’s homecoming. We arrive at Famous Dave’s to meet 4 or 5 other couples. The dress i wore we much different from the other girls present. They each wore a dark, half length, small, easy to fit in, dress. While I had spent lots of time and energy to look as adorable and grown up as I could. I wore a long dark skirt with a tight corset. I ordered my full raque of ribs dripped with bbq sause. They were so tender, juicy, and messy. I was enjoying my face in my meal. I look, with my mouth full of meat, down my table and noted that all the girls, including some boys, ordered a very large salad, later, which they could not finish. My date proudly anounced, once again, that I was his girl. I laughed. Famous Dave’s atmosphere is so cozy, the ole western feel, taste, look, and smell, brings a good taste of beer and ribs!
