Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Raleigh, North Carolina?
My husband and I have been to The Pit twice; the first time, we were given a large table (no reservation) and plenty of elbow room. We didn’t notice the people around us at all. The second time, when we had a reservation, we were crammed in between a couple with twin infants and a mother and son who were obviously unhappy, either with their meal or each other. Both times we’ve been, however, we’ve been served excellent food and had knowledgeable waitstaff. I’m unclear as to who our tip goes to, since it seems as though multiple people wait on us, but I hope it’s divided as fairly as possible.Anyway, I’ve had the meatloaf, the chopped turkey, the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and the baked beans, all of which have been excellent. I also ordered the sweet potato bread with maple butter that came in a cute cast iron skillet but didn’t like it much. The bread wasn’t sweet, and while it didn’t need to be, I expected the maple butter to be on the same level as the butter they serve with
