Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Portland, Oregon?

Although I have heard great things about Campbells across the board..I was a bit disappointed. The food was good, not the worse, not the best. The main food (meat) was decent portion but the side items were very small. I had the BBQ Chicken, Brown Sugar Sauce, greens, mac n cheese and cornbread. The greens where a bit bland and top portion of mac n cheese a bit cold when I got it. My husband had BBQ Ribs with the hot BBQ sauce, he said it wasnt that hot, candied yams & Bean/Rice. One of the ribs was mainly fat. The worse of the night though really was the service. Theres about 10-12 tables throughout restaurant and when we came in maybe half were full if that. We sat ourselves, although the wait staff acknowledged us, we then had to get up about 10 mins later to get our own menu. The waitress only visited our table to take our order, deliver food. We had to flag her to get more drinks, got up to get a box for left overs and our check. We also watched as pretty much everyone

Clay’s Smokehouse has a different take on the sides, but the usual barbecue meats are all there–good pork ribs, brisket, chicken, etc. They have one mild sauce that, if you’re used to fiery hot spice, you may not love, but at least it’s a balanced sauce. It’s a comfortable atmosphere, and I’ve always experienced good service there.Definitely try Clay’s Smokehouse. You can see my complete review at BBQPDX on Blogspot.Pros + Tasty barbecue, especially the chicken.Cons – One sauce only, very different sides that you will either love or hate.

Not sure why anyone would think Big Kahuna’s pork is watered down? I went there yesterday for lunch and the place was packed! Big Kahuna himself was behind the line and a big guy with a aloha shirt was behind the till great customer service by the way! anyway, I ordered the pork sandwich with two sides potato salad and mango cole slaw, the potato salad was ok, but the mango cole slaw was great! crisp and sasy. I also ordered the spicy BBQ sauce on the side as I did not know how hot it might be, Let me tell you what, that sauce was the bomb! spicy but not to spicy. that guy did not know BBQ Kahuna, Don’t pay no attention to his comments I am not local to St. John’s but let me tell you I will be back for more real soon and I will tell all my friends about The BIG KAHUNA”S BBQ. Keep up the good Q.Pros + Great Q, Great service, Grear deal!Cons – need more location! Lake Oswego Maybe 🙂

I was expecting friendly, efficient service and large portions of tender juicy ribs. I received indifferent, incompetent service, and rather small portion of average ribs. My experience with the waitress/hostess did not inspire me to return anytime soon. Her inefficient, lackadaisical service was painful to watch. I was not offered water or my ordered beverage to drink while I was waiting, even though it was 85 degrees that afternoon. It took her three tries to get a cup, lid, and straw for my drink to go. And, despite the fact that I was the last person to order and there were only two other groups waiting for their orders, she couldn?t manage to remember that I had paid for my order when I placed it only 10 minutes earlier. The sauce was good, just enough spice to make it interesting, but not enough to overpower the palate. It was not overly fruity or spicy, but a very complementary blend of flavors, and there was not a huge pool of it in the bottom of the to go box. I have often spe

Citysearch – try to be a little more up to date! This place is closed. Watch for Kenny & Zuke’s Deli downtown at the Ace Hotel October 2007.About the old Ken’s Place: I enjoyed it and had great service. They were very accommodating with our kid without being a “kid” place, which I really appreciate. The bad thing was that the dish that my husband ordered was so salty that it was inedible. When our server was told this he responded that Ken often makes that dish way too salty and he would take it off our bill. Weird that that’s known and not fixed. We appreciated the comp but would have preferred edible food and/or to be warned when ordering it. Maybe the servers could have tasted this dish at the beginning of the night to be able to warn customers? Is Ken so frightening that no one will tell him? No idea, but I do look forward to trying the new deli.Pros + ServiceCons – Closed
