Where is the Best Barbecue Food in New York, New York?
I’ve been going to Dinosaur for the past 3 years. I don’t know why I wasn’t one of the first people at the door when it first opened, but better late than never.Normally, we start with the wings, but the deviled eggs are almost as good as my grammy’s. I am such a fan of the Big Ass Pork platter that it’s usually the first thing I think of, but when I do switch it up, I’m never disappointed. The ribs are always tender and the roasted chicken is always moist. I tend to stay away from the fried green tomatoes and bbq fried rice, but you can’t go wrong with the mac&cheese, potato salad or the baked beans. As for dessert, my last trip saw key lime pie on the menu…but I think the banana coconut pudding is totally unbeatable.Pros + Excellent service, extensive beer list, great foodCons – Can get really crowded, Not a lot of parking
In reading the many complaints about service, I would have to disagree based on my one (and probably only) time at Mara’s. The wait staff was pleasant and friendly but it was the food and the portions that earned my three star rating. I always associate southern food with big, hearty portions and my friend and I opened our mouths in surprise when we saw how few pieces we had on our Fisherman’s Platter. We also had the fried okra and the jambalaya, which we didn’t finish even though I wasn’t very full. I did notice the smell of seafood as soon as I walked into the restaurant but it wasn’t malodorous to the point that I wanted to walk out. In summary, the food at Mara’s provided my meal for that evening but it was far from a culinary experience.Pros + Good locationCons – Not great food
I have been brunching a Bubby’s since it opened in 90′. The food is great. Both the atmosphere and the eats are consistent, cozy, comfortable. Brunch has become a bit of a scene and it can get a little crazy sometimes. There is always a line-up and tons of tourists and New York transplants. If you can stand being trampled at the bar by a loud family of six from Kansas – or getting bumped for Natalie Portman and friend – after you waited an hour for a table, then you’re in for a treat. Once you are (finally) seated, you will be treated to attentive service and some of the best brunch selections in the city.Pros + ::duh:: The Food – hello?Cons – The crowds ::yuck::
