Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Minneapolis, Minnesota?

I grew up in and near Kansas City. I have a pretty good idea of what great tomato – based BBQ sauce should taste like. Dave’s is the best North of Kansas City. The meat is cooked pretty well, too. Although, I would suggest the brisket or pulled pork if you are a die hard KC ribs fan and want that meat to fall right off the bone. Sorry Dave, but your ribs are not cooked THAT great. However if you are have a craving for BBQ ribs in Minnesota, Dave’s is the best you will find.Pros + BBQ sauce, ambience, service, quality, great amount of food for the price, you will never leave hungryCons – the BBQ ribs are not the best in the world, but they are the best in Minnesota

The critics were right about this place – meat was fantastic, and the sides were wonderful. If you’re a chain-restaurant-eating side of meat on a plate kind of person, this isn’t for you, however. Portions were entirely under control but still plenty for two. I almost hate gushing about the place since it’s so small….Pros + the foodCons – lack of space

The place is really cool inside with the booths, wood, and big bar. Cajun chicken sandwich was good; the mashed potatoes are excellent. I’d go back just for them! My friend had the Little Ricky (4 ribs) and said it was ok but pretty dry. We also had the cornbread, which was also dry. It was still tasty though, and had delicious honey-maple-butter. The manager stopped by a couple times to check on us and got us whatever we asked for. Were there at a slow time, so we got a booth right away and had good service. Biggest problem: location, and therefore, parking.Pros + food, ambiance, serviceCons – parking, location

I had the spareribs. They were dry and tough, and not well-flavored.The whole point of indirect cooking methods such as smoking is to tenderize tough cuts of meat. The whole art of doing this is accomplishing the tenderization without drying out the meat. Market failed in both regards on the pork ribs, which is unacceptable. The chicken was not bad, but the spare ribs were a huge disappointment. The sides were good, I really enjoyed the slaw. Service was nice and I really dug the atmosphere. Perhaps I was there when the pit boss was having a day, but I really had high expectations hearing about how great the place was. If you want a real Southern BBQ experience, there are much better options in the area (Baker’s, Qfanatic, Scot Jamama’s, and Ted Cook’s come to mind).

Carry out only – i heard great things about this BBQ so i went there, the food was pretty good. the sauce was spicy and tasty. The slabs of ribs were pretty decent, meaty with lots of sauce. Second time I went there, the ribs were dried out, I mean Petrified dry. I carried out and didn’t open the canister until I got home, so I didn’t want to drive back 10 miles. So if you go to this place, open the ribs and inspect them before going out the door. $10 a person for half rack, pretty spendy for something you can’t eat if you get the bad lot of ribs. I am shocked they even gave these away to someone to eat. Therefore, I have to rate them low. Quality always should come first and not meeting a deadline on getting an order out the door.Pros + Quick preparation, Tasty sauceCons – Hit or miss on ribs, no room to eat in, Kinda spendy
