Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Los Angeles, California?
Ribs USA is neither here nor there. There are better rib joints in Los Angeles, but when I think of Ribs USA, I think of “comfort”. Ribs USA, located in the REAL “Hollywood” of Burbank, California, is located near the intersection of Olive and Buena Vista, convenient to Disney, Warner Bros., NBC, and countless production houses. The first time I had Ribs USA, it was the mid-nineties and I was working in feature animation. One of my coworkers had this BBQ for lunch (I think they were babybacks), and at the time I tried it, I thought to myself, “THIS is what barbeque is supposed to taste like!!” Flash forward to today and I’ve had ribs from all sorts of places, but when I think of Ribs USA, it’s like a homecoming for me. The BBQ sauce, although not the créme de la créme of sauces, is almost stereotypically “barbeque” in flavor. To me, it’s a nice polygamous marriage of tangy, sweet, and smokey. I’m not a big fan of chains, NUT Houston is an exception. Everyone loves this place, myself included! You just know that when you go to Houston’s, you’ll have a great meal. One of my very favorite places to go on a date or with a group of friends. Sure you have to wait for quite a while sometimes, but once you’re seated you’re reminded of why everyone outside is waiting: delicious food! Hawaiian rib eye, I mean wherelse can I get that? It’s so juicy and delicious, the flavors are just right. Center-cut fillet is another one of those great steaks that Houston does so well. I stuff myself silly at this place because everything just tastes homemade and great.Pros + great food, steaks, great for groupsCons – wait
It’s our 10th year Wedding Anniversary and it’s a Tuesday. So we just had dinner at a nearby restaurant and that was the M-Grill at Wilshire Blvd in the heart of Koreatown. The first time I stepped in to the place I was impressed! Very nice ambiance, it feels like Im in Wolf Gang Puck’s restaurant (the one in Hollywood, but it’s not as pricy as the WGP, price is reasonable) I tried to get some ceasar salad, some beets and some of the grilled veggies, and on the hot section, I tried getting some of the collard greens some mashed yucca and the fried plantains, those are my favorite combinations, of course with the churrasco. I tried every single meat they serve, the top sirloin, garlic steak, polish sausage, garlic chicken, skirt steak, prime rib and my personal favorite the PICANHA, top sirloin cap. They all taste superb! ( except for the prime rib, I think)All the meats were very tender, juicy, not dry, not chewy. . . tasty and flavorful, if you know how to cook, you’ll know if it’s go
