Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Las Vegas, Nevada?
saw monday night football (pats vs. vikings) here last night. both bars were already packed (get here early if you want a good seat for any game) so we waited about 15 minutes for a seat in the main dining area. service was great – our waiter would appear just at the right time for a beer refill! i split a smoked bbq burger with david – his choice – and i ravaged my half. the bacon, pepper jack cheese and the meat marinated in bbq sauce was a good combination. i think they had a minimum of $10/person/hour but i don’t think that was heavily enforced last night since it was packed for mnf. overall, great sport bar
I need to do a bit of background. I go to Vegas a couple of times a year mostly on business and stay in the large Strip hotels but need to get off of the Strip to just relax. I was looking for good comfort food on one occasion and saw a review for Big Mamas. Comfort food to me means fried and likely either East European or Deep South. Off I went.Okay in the interest of honesty you need to be comfortable with not upscale restaurant and locale. Food was critical and I did not worry about the neighborhood. Felt like I had died and been transported back to the South after I ate there the first time. Great food and real people. My wife hates Vegas and never goes with me on business trips but I told her when we were going through Vegas on a trip a few months after my first adventure to this restaurant she was in for a treat. Okay I am an adventurous diner. My wife is not. I look for good food and good people. If it is upscale, okay but not real critical to me. She questioned where I was
K’s is a low priced version of Lucille’s. However there is nothing “Low Quality” about their food. I have had the brisket, pulled pork, hot links and ribs. Not a dry bone or meat in the place. K’s is nestled in a corner of a strip mall and provides fastfood style seating and ambience. They are the only BBQ joint that will ask if you want fat or not. The portions are plentiful and the price very reasonable, exactly the price is lower than expected for the quality. The only short falls are no “Soul Food” sides or desserts…otherwise a Great Family option for Great BBQ.Pros + Excellent Food, Plentiful Portions, Great pricesCons – Limited Sides, No Desserts
