Where is the Best Barbecue Food in Houston, Texas?
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! We ate here years ago and it was great. Took a trip to San Antonio and could not wait to eat here today 05-24-2008. What shock! Disposable everything plates cups utensils. Better food at a TRUCK STOP! Pre-Formed,Pre Shaped what they called Chicken Fried steak. Thin pre cooked some kind of meat that they just dropped in the oil for a couple of minutes. Instant mashed potatos, canned beans. NO TASTE NO FLAVOR. $23.00 for BBQ spud that the meat was dry, chicken fried steak and 2 teas. The tea was good!. Dont waste you time or money. Better food at Dairy Queen or any truck stop around! On the window it said Award Winning from food and wine but IF this is true its from many many years ago. I still cant believe what a disappointment this was. I cant recall the last time I was served on paper plates with plastic utensils INSIDE a restaurant. Its obvious eating there they are in trouble!Cons – THUMBS DOWN DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Demeris Barbecue provided excellent catering service and food for for our wedding reception. Demeris is already known for great barbecue. Many may not know (and we didn’t at first either) that they offer a vast variety of choices on their catering menu. Some choices include SouthWestern/TexMex, Southern Style food like Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken Fried Chicken, Italian food like SevenLayer Lasagna, Turkey and Dressing, Hors d’ Oeuvres, and Breakfast Buffet. Our guests were very pleased with our menu selection – Chicken Fried Chicken, Seasoned Green Beans, Roasted New Potatoes, Salad, and Rolls. The serving staff were hard working and conscientious. We enjoyed working with Billy who arranged the catering and helped us with our selections. We highly recommend Demeris for catering.
Tin Roof BBQ has the best food I have ever eaten, and I am EXTREMELY picky. There is something here for everyone. All of the food and desserts are homemade and cooked fresh everyday! The Chicken, Ribs, Pork Loin, Brisket are GREAT and I almost forgot try the Turkey, it?s SO good. This place has the most sides I have ever seen in a restaurant, more than Luby’s. And they are ALL so yummy! And the sauce is to die for. I always buy jars of it and give them out as gifts at Christmas! My neighbors love me. And, if you aren’t in the mood for BBQ try their steaks, better than what you will get from the places on the freeway. Or they have great salads, baked potatoes, salmon, and burgers (did I mention the 1.5 lb burger! – something to share). I could go on and on about the food, it really is so great. But what makes the place so special are the owners and staff. They know me by my First name! They are such great warm hearted people, and always have a smile on their face. Once you walk in you r
This is good barbeque although I will admit, being from Central Texas, I know of better barbeque with far superior service and lower prices. I find Thelma’s rude, impolite and ignorant service just totally unnecessary. I also find the decor of this place deplorable. It is pitiful and just down right wrong that after “packing in” the amount of customers she has over the years that she does not have a better, clean and decent place for her patrons to enjoy her barbeque. Given her ignorance and her appearance, one has to wonder where her profits have gone because they surely have not gone in the physical appearance of her restaurant. I personally would rather get a bad grade of barbeque with better service than drive to Thelma’s to either not get served (because she has run out of meat) or to have it served to me rudely. I say drive elsewhere and get better service in a cleaner atmosphere.
When I hear the word afciando, I think robust appetite and the belly to prove it. While I do not consider myself to possess either, I do consider myself a good judge of good grub. Red River is a place I could take my parents or meet some old friends for a couple of beers and finger licking good ribs. I think WASTE OF TIME is probably the creator of dry ribs, bland potato salad and those disgustingly sweet, overly fat beans otherwise known as Bush’s Baked Beans. The turkey is juicy and thick, because I did not stop at Subway for a turkey sandwhich. It is smoked and cut right off the breast the way a BBQ restaurant should serve it. If you have not tried Red River, you don’t know what you’re missing.
