Where is the Best Bakery in San Francisco, California?
First time I was fortunate enough to taste the Delights of Diandas, was at My daughters’ wedding,In San Franciso, Mission District, in July~~needless to say, the Wonderful Taste of the Almond Torte, blew Me away, the next day, I walked to Diandas and had them ship a torte to My girlfriend in Minden, NV…..She raved about it and I had to promise to send her another for the Holidays!~~~to add to that, I am ordering 2 tortes to send to My sister, in Montana, where I will be spending the Thanksgiving Holiday, and thus will be able to savor the Almond Torte, once again!~~~This Bakery deserves, More than A Five Star Rating!~~~I wish they had a store in Portland, Oregon, where I live!Pros + A Wide Variety of Pastries~~~Outstanding,Friendly and Effiecient Service!Cons – none
As my hubby and I were walking down Grant Street, I saw a line out this bakery. I figured it had to be good if locals were waiting in line, so I got to the back and peered through the window trying to decide what I was going to sample. The small store is run like an assembly line. There are 3 Chinese women behind the counter all taking orders, packaging delicacies and taking money. I am a bit familiar with Chinese pastries, but not proficient. The women were curt, but helpful when I questioned a few of the items. I finally decided on 2 pastries, 1 rice dessert and 4 cookies. I was surprised when she told me the price of $6. I’m from Miami and an order like this would have been over $10. I will definitely be back but better prepared and with a bigger order.Pros + fresh goodsCons – small store
well like the other reviewers i agree the service is poor but my experience wasnt nearly as bad. whewwe were also served a lunch menu and thought what the heck why not had sandwiches and soups.. they were pretty good actually but very pricey. afterwards i wanted to get a dessert but i couldnt decide which one i wanted and our server was so unhelpful. she was just like if you like chocolate get the chocolate one if not get something elsethis place is pretty pretentious for a bakeryrestaurant and the prices prove it. bleH
I have worked 3-4 blocks down the street from DeLessio for years and never knew about it. I then stumbled across it on Citysearch last week- what a surprise! My only issue with DeLessio is the large variety of tempting and great looking lunch options. I finally decided on a slice of meatloaf, a scoop of mac & cheese and a cup of tomato soup. The meatloaf was flavorful, the mac was cheesy and the soup was creamy, spicy and delicious. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed sitting on the patio outside with limited street noise. This spot will now be in my lunch routine.
