Where is the Best Bakery in New York, New York?
Just to try and set the record straight to all those who don’t know pastry shops outside of Manhattan the best cannoli in NYC is from Villabate on 18th Ave. in Bensonhurst. The owners are from sicily & the ricotta is flown in from sicily & shells are thin & crispy. That being said yes Veniero’s does make good cookies, NY & Italian style cheesecakes, pastries and assorted specialty cakes. I like the Italian cheese cake and rum cake sheets sitting on the counter you can have them cut to order, no need to purchase a whole cake and they are always fresh. The apple pie is delicious, crust is thin and apples are not too sweet and spiced just right.Pros + Good Cheescake, Cookies, Apple Pie & Rum Cake
We watched the Bobby Flay Throwdown featuring Levain’s Famous Cookies. Just watching them on the TV made our mouth’s water. We had to go find this place and try them for ourselves. It’s a little hole in the wall place, but that’s where the best stuff is usually hiding! OMG!!! These cookies are absolutley the most amazing things I have ever truly tasted in my entire life. I am someone who eats healthy, but loves to splurge on the weekends and indulge…I workout hard and deserve it….this cookie is Soooooo worth every savory morsel! Their chocolate chip walnut is my favorite!!!! The chocolate peanut butter chip is a close 2nd, its amazing. The dark chocolate chocolate chip is so decadent….I only regret not trying the oatmeal raisin. These cookies are massivley huge and heavy…but they are the best cookies I have ever tasted in my life!Pros + Amazing, Delicious, Enormous, Savory, Incredible CookieCons – They are probably a trillion calories =(
This is a great bakery with several locations in the city. You have have have to try the oatmeal cookie cupcake. Its GREAT! Drawbacks… the icing on some of the types of cupcakes isn’t that great… go for the unique kinds like oatmeal, red velvet, etc.Pros + Huge cupcakes, better than MagnoliaCons – Not the best I’ve had yet
If Thomas Keller knew how bad his staff treated their customers he would be appauled. I love the food, but I can’t stand the service. They are not helpful, but rude all the time. I’d rather have cheaper, not quite as good food and be treated well.Pros + the foodCons – the service is about the worst in NY
I went to Alice’s Teacup on a whim for brunch on a Sunday with a friend. I love anything Alice in Wonderland and very much enjoyed my experience here. We did have to wait an hour for a table because of private parties taking place upstairs and in the back, but we put our name in and went to Bloomingdales and there was a table ready when we returned. I am kind of a tea buff and was happy to see an extensive selection — I even bought a few ounces on my way out. I had the vegetarian omlette and it was absolutely delicious with lots of veggies and cook pears on the side. I even mentioned to the waitress that I’d like to have my birthday party there, and after explaining the cost decided it was too expensive. However, about a week later I received an email about having a party with significantly cut costs. Though I’ve decided not to do a party there (since it’s too close to the date), I will certainly consider it in the future. The downside? Too many children for my taste.
