Where is the Best Bakery in Houston, Texas?
I vowed to find the best cupcakes in Houston and subarbaby’s was the first of the 4 I planned to visit. The store was beautiful. Very cute decor and it would be fun to dine there but I ordered 10 cupcakes to go as I had to go somewhere. As a first timer, I expected a little more friendliness from the staff. Usually when we go out and visit overpriced dessert restaurants, the staff are extra friendly, and would be suggesting the bestsellers. I usually take my time in reading the descriptions as I don’t like too much fruit in my cupcakes. The staff seemed impatiend and wouldn’t say much if wasn’t asked. So i just pointed the ones I wanted. For such expensive cupcakes, I expected a more cheerful welcome and service. They put the cupcakes in a box that had no separators. I didn’t expect this as most cupcake stores have boxes that had separators so that the cupcakes won’t topple over. When I asked for a bag (it was going to be a long walk to the rice village, I am a tourist and didn’t have
I absolutely love Moeller’s Bakery. I worked there in high school (in the early 90s) and have been going back ever since. We have a Moeller’s cake for EVERY birthday, baby shower, and anniversary. The cakes are delicious. The butter cream icing is perfect. Everytime we introduce someone to a Moeller’s cake, they all want the address immediately. It’s impressive. The gingerbread men, Petit Fours, dinosaur cookies, and snowballs are worth driving in from Sugar Land to get. I do agree that customer service could be better, but once you leave and eat your yummy cake it’s all worth it.Must haves: Any devil’s food cake, white cake, italian cream cake, gingerbread men, dinosaur cookies, snowballs, petit fours, carrot cake, angel food, lemon chiffon, cheese straws, orange rolls, etc….Pros + everything, all the food/baked goodsCons – parking, customer service, no sunday hours
When I’m feeling down, I’m one of those people who drowns in food, or more specifically, desserts. Enter Ruggles Cafe Bakery, a kind of dessert heaven that always manages to cure my blues. Located in the Rice Village with ample parking, a large patio, and window-facing booths, Ruggles Cafe Bakery is my low-key antidote to whatever’s making my day ho-hum. My orders invariably stay the same: a hot, crispy, lusciously creamy, super tasty white chocolate bread pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream – with just enough decadence to help me wallow in my sorrows and just enough sugar to pull me out of them – and a large cup of cappuccino with their signature chocolate dipped spoon. The dessert counter always offers numerous other mouth-watering dessert choices and I’ve tried many – red velvet cake, tres leches, chocolate cake, to name a few – but the white chocolate bread pudding tends to far surpass the others in its ability to bring me back to my happy place. This signature dess
I have been a customer at Ooh La La ever since it opened a couple years back. I have continued to be impressed with the quality, freshness and variety of their desserts. I have explored numerous other dessert shops (crave, Dessert Gallery, etc) but none come close to topping Ooh La La.I continue to trek far out to Katy just for the delicious desserts (I can never leave without a Chocolate Chewy cookie!), the pleasant atmosphere, and the service. As a response to recent reviews, I must say that I, myself, have never received less than attentive service from the Ooh La La staff. Both the front staff and the pastry chefs have always been very helpful. Moreover, the creative minds behind the menu at this top Houston dessert spot have never ceased to surprise and delight my taste buds, and the special orders they can do are phenomenal. I expect Ooh La La to be a stable of the Houston dessert scene for years to come, and hope that the rumors of expansion are true!Pros + Food, service,
