Where is the Best Bakery in Chicago, Illinois?
Yes, the quarters are a little cramped if you come for lunch. My suggestion is to come at off hours. Service could be better. True, they do need 48 hours in advance to do a cake. This is the same with most bakeries. Because I am such a procrastinator, I tend to ask what cakes they have in stock, what’s fresh, etc. I’ve never been dissapointed with a birthday cake. I would say the style of this bakery is more similar European. The crossaints are NOT the best. (Julius Mienl or Sweet Thang are better.) Scones, muffins, quiches, and other items rank high on my list. If you are looking for that ULTRA sweet, feel the sugar running through your veins, type of experience, then this is not the right bakery for you. Dinkles would do the trick. (which I also like) . If you like a more European experience, then this would be the place for you.
A couple years ago I was at a wedding and the bride was so excited to have her cake made by Jarosch. When I finally took my first bite, it was amazing. Each piece was so thick with layers, each made from a different type of cake. It was like having a buffet of all the best cakes on one plate. Jarosch has become a favorite amongst our family and friends ever since.
