Where is the Best Bakery in Atlanta, Georgia?

I went to Rhodes Bakery for my last birthday cake. The store was clean and the staff were very friendly, fast, and accommodating; they had no problem making the cake for Saturday when I ordered it on Thursday (granted, it was a rather simple sheet cake.) I was extremely pleased with the experience and would give the bakery a higher rating if it weren’t for the fact that the actual cake was somewhat bland and the icing was far too sweet. It may have just been the kind that I ordered, but I felt like I basically just paid for the decoration because I could have made the exact same thing from a box. Pros + parking, prompt service, friendly staffCons – food was just average

We really enjoy the breakfast at Grandma Lukes. The french toast is unique and delicious. The cheese grits are very creamy. I love the biscuits, and I am a very picky biscuit eater! The environment is really cool and in the heart of L5P. It is a great Saturday to eat breakfast earlier and then spend the afternoon shopping. The choco chip cookies are soft and fresh (not those giant, hard cookies a lot of places serve). The cakes are fresh – choco fudge, coconut and carrot cake are my favorites. They also make special event cakes to order. Friends of mine are having a cake made for the Florida/Georgia game! Pros + Great Location and Wonderful Food! Large Dining area in the back for big groups!Cons – Parking is tight in L5P – but there is a parking lot behind the shops where the bakery is located.

I live right down the street from Matty Cakes, and had been in there when it first opened for a slice of gooey delicious carrot cake. I spread the word around to my co-workers immediately — there’s a new cake shop in town!! Since then, however, on my drive to work, I’ve rarely seen Matty Cakes as busy as it should be. I’m frequently the only one in the shop, when I stop by for a muffin and coffee in the morning. So, if you haven’t tried Matty Cakes — NOW IS THE TIME! You are missing out on some of the most delectible sweet treats this side of your grandmother’s bakery. Try the red velvet cupcakes! Try the pumpkin muffins! Everything is always fresh and oh so good. The coffee is hot and the service is good. I will be buying my birthday cakes from Matty from now on. And so will you! Pros + Value for money, heavenly cakes and desserts, great serviceCons – No seating

behind the stoic figures of Greek women is the most wonderful bargain bakery in town. there are others, say in the Morningside n’hood, that do nicely for the expensive, chic crowd, but THIS place has the tastiest spinach pie, pistachio baklava, & cheese pies we could’ve longed for…and for a dollar, you can’t eat better in Atlanta! next time we’re filling our bags with sweet treats as well, and we’ll be doing a bit of shopping off the shelves too. the sardines and grape leaves looked yummy, and being direct imports from Greece i think we’ll have another review to post. Enjoy this n’hood gem!Pros + great service, amazing prices, baked right there by women who’ve been baking for 50+ years.

Gerald’s desserts ARE heavenly! I savor every morsel and then lick the fork – seriously. Anything he makes with chocolate (ohhh those brownies) is a perfect balance of sweet, gooey decadence. The sweet potatoe cheesecake is one layer after another of moist, creamy rich deliciousness. I make it a point to save room (or make space ;o) for a Geralds’ Heavenly Dessert. If you haven’t tried any of his scrumptious (he offers the classic flavors like chocolate cake or red velvet and then some really creative flavor combinations that showcase his culinary talents) and beautiful desserts WHAT R U WAITING 4?!?!Pros + fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, creative flavor combinationsCons – the desserts do not regenerate themselves
