Where is the Best Bagel in Oakland, California?
This charming European restaurant provided the perfect setting for my son and daughter-in-laws wedding rehearsal dinner. The owners we very helpful and available to me in planning this event. The list of food options for the individualized event menu were extensive providing something for all diners. The wait staff was pleasant and interactive. My only suggestion would be that waiters be a bit more attentive to the tables between courses to be sure guest requests, drink orders etc. are readily addressed. The food was delicious and presented well. Many positive comments about the food by all in attendance. I would recommend Le Bateau Iver to anyone planning a dinner or banquet event.
I’d been to Masse’s next door a couple of times but this time Masse’s was closed so I dropped into Saul’s instead. Although I was the only person there at 4:30 on a Monday afternoon and there were at least 3 people behind the counter, it somehow took them at least 15 minutes to take my order. After getting home I discovered that part of my order was missing (even though I had confirmed it twice with the person taking the order). Interestingly, they didn’t forget to charge me for all the items though! So I got back in the car and returned to Saul’s. When I explained what had happened, I got a weak apology but no attempt to compensate me for my trouble and their mistake. Apparently my potential return business was of no concern to them. Once I finally got around to eating the food, the sweet and sour cabbage soup was very good. So yes I might return for takeout, but with no expectation of being treated like a valued customer. Must be that authentic New York mentality? Pros
