On 5/16/ 2207, My 2002 Camry would not start. I work downtown and wondered if it just needed a jump. Well, the jump didn’t work and being that I know very little about repairing cars, I wondered how was I going to get it to a repair shop, what shop was close by, and how much is this going to cost. I didn’t want to take it to the dealer knowing that would be much more expensive and take forever to get my car back. I needed my car fixed and I needed it as fast as possible being that I commute from Round Rock each day. So I search the web and tried to find the closest repair shop and then I Google Mobile Mechanic and came across Elite Mobile Service and a guy named Scot Haskell. I gave him a call at 2:33 pm and explained my situation. He also explained to me how his services work and the cost associated prior to him arriving. At approx 3:39 pm he was in the parking lot. He troubleshot the problem quickly, and found that the starter was bad. He called for parts, but the auto parts s

I chosed Advanced Auto based on the excellent online reviews I found. I’ve only lived in Austin 6 weeks and am always apprehensive about finding a good, honest, knowledgeable auto shop with good pricing. I seemed to be having an issue with tire balancing, but for all I knew the cause could have been something more expensive – all I knew was my car was shaking a lot and replacing a front tire didn’t fix the problem. The people at Advanced were very courteous – they listened to all the info I gave them patiently and while I waited for the technician to finish up a couple of things before he could look at my car, the gentleman at the front desk made sure I knew they had not forgotten about me. I watched t.v., sat in their comfortable and cool lobby and read magazines (which, may I add, the selection included more than just typical guy magazines – they had tons of Martha Stewart Living, etc., ha ha!). When the tech came out to inform me the only issue was one bad tire, and showed me the pr

I have a 2002 Audi TT Roadster that has had chronic problems, especially regarding the suspension, practically since the day it was brought home. My family and I became suspicious that Momentum Audi in Houston was not performing the work they said they were about 4 years after we bought it. I found Pampered Auto Care in August of 2008, after a previous mechanic in Houston had forgotten to turn the reminder light off after one of the integral services. Pampered Auto Care didn’t charge me anything for that so I decided to give them another shot when I needed more work done. It turns out that that same previous mechanic had also forgotten to bolt on the driver’s side sway bar after installing new struts, which had led to, among other things, that new left strut breaking. My mechanic Steve, who is their VW/Audi specialist, helped recommend a custom panzer plate (because the stock one was made of cheap plastic that did not protect the bottom of the car, and has led most TT driver

Their motto is “Returning the trust originally instilled in the family mechanic” and I could not agree more. Dan and the guys are top-notch and honest. I originally went to them a couple of years ago after reading good things about them on this site. I had a number of nagging issues with my 89 Isuzu Trooper and brought it to them to get inspected and have them quote me on the other items. My A/C was very flaky and would blowout the fuse every so often and also the sliding selector would not work and I had to reach up behind the dash to change modes. I figured at least $500 to fix it up right and other places that I had been to had basically given me the run around when I asked how much it would be to fix these things. So imagine my surprise when I got a call from Dan to say that the A/C was just a loose wire that was shorting out and that the selector was only a cable that had fallen off that they fished around for and fixed!! I ended up getting out of there for less than $100 w

We went to Ben White Automotive (South) to get the timing belt and water pump changed on my daughter’s 1996 Accord (4 Cylinders) . We called around for prices and they were lower than others. My other daughter and son in-law had taken their cars to them and spoke very well of their service. So Friday morning we met a gentleman at the front desk named Oscar who was very friendly and provided an estimate of changing timing belt, water pump and two other auxiliary belts upfront. He said he would call later with more details as they got into it. He called about mid day about other issues with my car and his honest advice about whether I could delay/neglect those issues. We decided to replace the front axles. They did not finish Friday but they worked Saturday so my daughter would have the car for work Monday morning. The repairs actually cost more than estimated but they adjusted the bill by over a hundred dollars and honored their original estimate. Four weeks later I was changing the oi
