Where is the Best American Food in Portland, Oregon?
My wife and I enjoy good food and even though we live in the area we tend to find ourselves driving into Portland to have good food from locally owned restaurants (we really try to support only those places). So that tells you how hard it is to a place close to home. We decided to try one of the few locally owned/operated in Beaverton. I have been here before a long time ago, it wasn’t a memorable evening the first time so we decided to try to give them another chance. Times are tough right now and business are slow. So when we walked in it was almost empty. As fast as we were greeted and sat, it took quite a few minutes for our server to acknowledged us. A pet peeve with 99% of customers. The menu prices where fine. The beers are overpriced! As I said I eat out a lot and I don’t know one restaurant in Portland that I have paid more then 4.50 for beer, and that includes places like El Gaucho and Blue Hour. The beers here are 4.95 a glass that’s more then a well drinks around town! T
As an employee of Twilight for the last 1.5 years I definitely know what every item in the restaurant tastes like. And I have to say I LOVE 98% of our menu items. I have had many years of working with pizza (Godfathers, Dominoes and Dragoos) and know that Twilight has the best pizza that I have come across in the Portland Metro Area. I started working as a cook my first 8 months at Twilight, and then was able to move to the front of the house and become a server. I truly enjoy serving at Twilight and taking care of our guests. We have quite a few fantastic regulars, who I look forward to seeing weekly. I have met many fantastic people and have heard sooooo many compliments about our food, service, decor (the floor and the giant blue paper lantern), our involvement with the community, and the general atmosphere of the restaurant. There are people that drive from Lake Oswego and Woodland when they want pizza. (That is a huge honor, since there are dozens of pizza joints between us
Don’t let the name mislead you. It may sound like a Denny’s, but it’s nothing even close. The service has to be mentioned here — absolutely flawless. Each and ever time I’ve been here I have not been disappointed. The entrees are fantastic, desserts decadent and delicious, and great views on to the golf course. The furnishings are a bit dated — feeling like a late 70s lounge, but it’s comfortable and warm. The menu is a variation on traditional comfort foods (thus in some ways matching the feel of the decor). But these variations make the ordinary extraordinarily good. For the quality, the prices are not unreasonable. Great place for a date or a quality meal to be had with close friends.
