Last night my best friend Bill and I ate at the cooking bar and had a nice cozy spot all to ourselves. We shared the spincah salad which had some very interesting spinach…red colored…but the cheese crouton and dressing with candied walnuts made the salad delicious.Bill had chicken and mashed potatoes which were reportedly delicious. I did get a bite of the potatos. I had the special tomatoes and cheese, can’t remember the fancy name but it was fabulous. For dessert, yes we had barely enough room, was an incredible french toast tiramisu with bananas and walnut ice cream!Yum yum yum…have always liked this corner dining spot and it’s still as good as when it first opened…although quite different with the creative touches and tastes of Chef Ryan Adams and Manager Lori McLean. Kudos to all!Pros + Wonderful food, great ambianceCons – Like most restaurants these days, a little noisy

We drive up from San Diego to splurge every now and then and have some of Ramos House’s brunch..This place is *so* good–we are hard-core restaurant goers– and truly, this place is in our top 5 faves(in San Diego/Orange county area)..It is so good, I bought their cookbook & got it signed by the friendly chef/owner himself. The food here is all butter, all cream, decadent, melt-in-your-mouth..EVIL–but DAMN is it so good!!! Truly, don’t miss out on this gem!!!!!!!Pros + great food, friendly staff, great ambiance, great place to soak up the whole southern California feelCons – I can’t get enough of it!

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we both absolutely loved the views. from the moment we got there, we felt important. it did take them a bit to get us seated even though i had made reservations a week in advance but once we say down, our waitress was great. She made sure we had everything and our cups were never empty not did we ever have any plates on our table for more than a few minutes. The views out of the window were incredible!! The waitress then gave my girlfriend a free slice of cheesecake for her birthday. when we were done eating, we sat on the outside balcony by a fire pit for about 20 mins and had a great time enjoying the city views. The food was a little on the dissapointing side…the cesar salad was a bit lacking, the salmon was a little too dry for my taste and my prime rib was cooked rare instead of medium and my mashed potatoes seemed too bland also. For the price of the food, it definitely wasn’t 5 star dining but the entire ambiance and experience of

Gulfstream, located at the corner of MacArthur & PCH, sits on the site of the old A&W drivethru – a great location offering a bit of nostalgia for Newport. Service is a tad chaotic and for some reason they always forget the water (remind them to bring it) but don’t let that distract you from going. The item to get – and a favorite – are the fried oysters. This dish is their best. The restaurant is bustling – much like a microbrewery – so if you want a quieter atmosphere, go early or go late.Pros + Oysters, Oysters, OystersCons – More Water Please, Noisy, Chaotic
