Where is the Best After-Work Bar in St. Louis, Missouri?
The Oyster bar has great Creole food and usually some good music, but it is never on my radar. Perhaps because it is all the way downtown. That’s no excuse though because I live in the city. The service is always a little slow when I have been there, and that is horrible when you are waiting for your fried alligator and jambalaya. The patio is nice, especially if it starts to rain because it is covered. The next time it pops into my head as a place to grab dinner and a couple drinks I’ll be there. A heads up, if you get there a little later, chances are that you will have to pay a cover for the band that is playing.
John does a great job of making everyone feel welcome. He has a very good variety on his menu and Gregg’s is a great place to enjoy lunch, dinner, or after work drinks and appetizers with friends. No friends…No problem. After a few minutes at Gregg’s you will have friends.Pros + Ample parking, Great food
I live in StC so we get to the Trailhead about 2-3 times a year. The dinners are okay, the burgers are very good, but the battered fish and appetizers are especially good-esp the barbecue chicken pizza (bbq sauce, chicken breast, red onions and cheese on thinnish crust-awesome, esp with beer!). And the portions sizes are filling for the price. I only drink the blonde ale, which is very good (like BudLight/Select only more robust), so I can’t tell you about their other beers. The service is sometimes slow…but that’s not necessarily unique to the Trailhead-ALL the restaurants in old StC are slow. Some more than others. I would rate the Trailhead’s service as above average on slowness and quality compared to the other restaurants in its class in the area. It seems the restaurants in old StC either want you to have a dining experience or they don’t employ enough wait staff. So keep time in mind when you visit any restaurant in old StC. The Trailhead gets unbelievably crowded on the weeke
I made a reservation for my family for Easter Brunch, some us had been there a few years ago for Thanksgiving and were very happy with the experience. First it took almost 30 after the reservation time to be seated, but it was a holiday and they were crowded so everyone was OK with that. The menu listed on their website which is what we used to base our decision on listed Farmhouse Chicken, there was none, when we asked we were told they did not have any, not they were out just there had not been any at all. Then when we went to get something from the dessert bar we were met by the most unfriendly rude woman I have ever met. Her sharp quick answers to questions were generally “I don’t know”, then she almost literally threw the dessert at you, she was even rude to my eighty year old mother. This lady must be related to someone because no good business person would keep her in there employ. One bright spot was the pasta/omelet chef, he was very friendly and very busy, he knew custom
