Flying Saucer is the BEST BEER PLACE in Nashville. They have more beers than most people will ever drink in a life time, However some have tried them all. The BEERtenders know there product. When you go to the Saucer get a beer you never have had, why waste beer money on PBR or Bud when you have REAL BEER to TRY. Jill the manager is so nice to everyone. Bands on Friday and Saturdays and can also be found through the week. Parking is limited, so valet in front when possible. Average age is 25 and over. Bad points, can be crowded and hard to talk ALLOWS SMOKING, often hard to breath in the main rooms. Overall the BEST “BEER” PLACE in NASHVILLE. The appetizers (crab cakes and bruschetta) were outstanding. The entrees were nothing special. The shrimp gnocchi was better than the duck I ordered. Worst part: my mashed potatoes were ice box cold. They tried to warm it up, but the interior was still chilly.In short: nice wine list, and good atmosphere for the easily-impressed. However, people who are serious about fine and progressive dining won’t be so easily swayed. The menu itself (as in the words) are just trying too hard to sound fancy. But, it’s a nice place for the unsophisticated who will be impressed by the descriptions, prices, and plating.Another word of caution: part of the dining area is adjacent to the bar, which is smoky.Tin Angel is more inventive, Cheesecake Factory is more diverse, and Melting Pot is more romantic. I love how this bar is ‘hidden’, keeps away all the tourists! Went on a Saturday- and was kinda disappointed of the crowd. It wasn’t completly dead, but not crowded- but i just expected more. They have a Jukebox, which is a cool addition. Music is kind of loud if you’re just sitting around and chatting, but it’s not that bad. The beer is high. That’s my only complaint. They make a KILER Singapore Sling, the best drink ever- i recommend everyone try it! I can see where it can very easily become a stand up bar, as there isn’t really that much seating. Well- i guess it’s sufficent, since there is a pool table in the middle of the floor. I loved it there, and i’m gonna go back here soon. Oh, the bar food is amazing!! I’ve eaten here a few times: a couple at the old location, and a couple at the new one. At the old location, it won Best of Nashville for “Restaurant with a View”, now it’s tucked next to overflow parking for downtown events. Coming from the northeast where Italian food abounds, I was never blown away by the food. I mean, it’s good. It’s just not what you’d want for a last meal on deathrow. The last time I went (at the new location), I was uninspired. The food was (again) just OK, but this time they had to raise the prices to cover the move to the new location. Needless to say, it wasn’t that great to begin with, and was overpriced at the old location.This is a bit sad, given that there really aren’t many non-franchise Italian restaurants in Nashville, and just about all of them are merely acceptable in the food dept, and in that regard, they’re usually inconsistent. I’m afraid I have to agree with some of the comment from other folks. This place is great your first couple of times but the luster quickly wears off. I’m willing to bet that the attitude that some of the staff has is because so much of the crowd is younger and inexperienced. I’m mean, c’mon. Fluctuating drink prices, they still don’t take cards and they don’t run tabs. Who does that anymore? Not to mention the power-drunk staff and management. They know that most of these folks will come back because there is nothing like it in town. The ATM in the lobby isn’t a convienience, it’s an eyesore. It’s something you would expect to see at some trashy laundrymat. I’ve had several folks tell me that the scene (regular patrons) rotates about every 8-10 months. With the entertainment (drag shows) I can see why. The featured perfomers are nice (brought in from the outside). The regulars have become complacent and lazy.
