Where is the Best After-Work Bar in Los Angeles, California?
We went to the new one (on Helms Ave) on a weeknight. It had a really nice atmosphere and lots of people. We were there for a few hours (spent nearly $500) celebrating someone’s graduation and found out that they did not have desserts. Two in our party (of 12) went to the bakery next door for a few pastries and we were basically kicked out when we tried to eat them in the restaurant. We spoke to the manager and he said it was their strict policy. We would have gladly bought from them had they had desserts on the menu. And we had planned to keep buying beer and appetizers from their menu. So, this is not a good place to celebrate if you want anything sweet—they won’t even allow you to bring in a birthday cake.
Red Rock is right in the heart of Holloywood on Sunset Blvd. It is more of a place where a lot of regulars hang out, rather then a place where tourists make sure to stop by. The bar is a 2 story place with the dance floor upstairs in a smaller room. The good thing about Red Rock is that there are several smaller bars around the place so you don’t usually have to wait in a huge line to get a drink.
Rusty’s is typical of any restaurant located in a touristy area – overpriced with okay American food. I’ve tried several things on the menu and have yet to find anything to write home about. That said, if you’re a bloody mary fan, they make a delicious drink! The bar scene at Rusty’s in general fairs better than the food. Offering live music and karaoke at night, as well as pool, the bar can be a fun place to spend an evening. During the Pier’s Twilight Dance Series, Rusty’s is THE place to go for a drink. Stand out on the patio and enjoy a drink with the live concert in the background or go inside for some more live music and dancing. Just be prepared for a crowd.Pros + A fun bar scene on the right night, they get some great bandsCons – Over priced and mediocre food
I went there last night which was a thursday. I’d been there before on a friday and it sucked and I was in a bad mood so I didn’t expect much. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool joint. Good stiff drinks and that’s always nice. The place was loud, the music is good and you can smoke outside, another plus. But throw a rock and you can find that anywhere in town. The main draw to this little dive bar in a shady neighborhood? a HOT BARTENDER named Silver. She was super cool, sweet, gorgeous and fast behind the bar.PROS:Stiff drinks.Smoking patio.Good music. My future wife behind the bar.CONS:Kinda far if you’re not in the neighborhood.Hipsters.Cholos.My future wife behind the bar.
