This is a great place to go to for happy hour. Apps are great & fairly priced. The Lobster Bisque is to die for! The bartenders are gracious with the booze for happy hour drinks! Good AtmospherePros + Well drinks $4Cons – Paid parking

We’ve gone through the German (or “German”, as some proved to be!) restaurants in LA, and this is by far the best. The beer selection sports proper wei?bier, and the menu has some excellent German items – the potato salad was definitely something I’d recommend! We actually had a decent-sized surprise party here, with 17 people, and the management was excellent in organizing the room for us (which is cozy but has real character – perfect for groups under 20!). Our waitress was rude and useless at the beginning, but a quick word to the manager on duty and he fixed that extremely quickly! In fact, he came in off his break and helped her out, so all the guests had dinner in less than 20 minutes! The parking is extremely limited, which can be a problem on busy occasions, but we’ve always found parking on the street, so don’t let this put you off. German food is great – if you’re into good German beer and food (which we certainly are) then look no further than this in LA!Pros + Great sele

I’ve been here a few times with friends, and only for drinks (they have Cider on tap!!!), but after trying the food I gotta say…don’t do it! The food wasn’t good. At all. My burger was not cooked correctly and my friends fish tasted like it was old. And to top it off we waited for almost 15 minutes before the server came back so we could tell her. Come only for drinks and hang out. Don’t bother with the food!Pros + Drinks, PatioCons – Food, Service

Since I’ve been in LA, I’ve gone to mostly clubs and lounge-y type places. Fun, but not a lot of warmth. This place reminds me of home (just outside of Chicago). The Backstage is old-school (in a good way), unpretentious and friendly. The staff is not typical ‘seen it all, done it all’ LA types. They seem like regular people who care about doing their job well and making you feel comfortable. The food is bar food plus. I don’t know exactly where the ‘plus’ comes from, but everything I’ve tried here is better than at other places. The prices are low, the drinks are strong, and the room is very warm and comfortable. Nice mix of people, liking each other and having a good time. I wish the real world could be a little more like this place. There was a birthday party there the other night and the people seemed to be having more fun than a bunch of kids at Chucky Cheese. Pros + Friendly staff and crowd, great food, strong drinks, low pricesCons – Wish I lived a little closer
