Where is the Best After-Work Bar in Columbus, Ohio?
Have been to the animal bar many times and have always had a good time. Great bands, large stage, close and reasonable parking, an amazing staff with the talent to serve enormous crowds. Brad, Matt, and Amber took great care of me on my last two visits. Oh yeah if you want crowds weekends are best!Pros + $1 happy hours, various bands, StaffCons – no H.H. on events, seating goes early
My friend and I stopped here because of a reccomendation, on our way from NYC to LA. I was kind of apprehensive upon reading about the delay in the seating process, as it was a friday night and we were still a good 3 hours away from Indianapolis (our first nights destination). As it was only a little over 2 miles off the 70, we figured we’d give it a shot and at least grab a beer (just one of course). We got there and sure enough it was packed, so we put our names down (about 8th on the list) then hit the potty. After washing up we went to the bar to grab a drink. The bartenders were very nice and touchy-feely (well at least Shotty VonTastetester). She kept coming up and rubbing us saying;”Everything okay boys?” Then when she would make shots for people, there somehow always magically managed to be one left over for herself. But Ill give it to her, her tolerance was high.I ordered the bacon burger. It was sooo good. It was served with chips and a pickle; both pretty good as well. S
There is nothing better than happy hour on a Saturday espically during football season. Their happy hour is $1 beers and $1 dollar well drinks. You would think the well drinks wouldn’t be good. WRONG. Even with the drinks being so cheap, the drinks are made very strong. Sometimes too strong. The staff is very friendly. The food is very good. Its not 5 star but it still is worth the money you spend. The crowd is decent. Just like any bar, the crowd is mix. Sometimes you can bump into a person that is rude and other times, you can bump into a person that is nice. The music is control by a electric jukebox that you can put your money into to play. If you want to play pool, they have 2 tables but get there early b/c there could be a wait. The only downfall with this bar is the location due to the fact that there is not enough parking for the bar. Sometimes you will have to park up to 3 blocks away b/c of all the “NO PARKING” signs that are posted everywhere. So, just m
Old Bag of Nails was one of Columbus’ first British styled pubs. Or Irish pub. I’m not sure which, they all look the same now. This one is actually in Worthington, now they dot the landscape around Columbus, along with their imitators. The Bag of Nails, as it should, serves a mean fish and chips, and has some excellent beers and ales to wash any menu item down with. This location is smallish and gets crowded easily, and closes early due to its location in the suburbs. But definitely check out one of the Bags when you’re in town.
