Where is the Best After-Work Bar in Boston, Massachusetts?
Went to Lucky’s Lounge for the first time Monday night with one of my girlfriends. I live in Southie and they’re definitely getting a new regular in me. I had the steak tips and they were absolutely delicious, by far the best I’ve had in a while. The waitress was charming and took quite good care of us and that was even before she knew the it was our first time. When she did find out she explained about how they have live music on some nights. I’m already making plans to come in for Sinatra Sunday soon! It’s a great place to come in a just relax. My only cons are no live music on Mondays and I couldn’t find it at first (no sign) but later in the evening I realized that no sign is part of Lucky’s charm.Pros + No SignCons – No Sign, No live music on Mondays
I recently went to this place with a friend after work for a drink and some appetizers and it was a horrible experience. We sat down at a table and waited a solid 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there (and there were hardly any other customers there). We got the feeling we walked into someone’s living room and broke up an invite only gathering. The bartender (a woman) was not friendly at all and even a little rude when she finally came over to take our order. Now if you are going to make the slightest claim that you are a good pub in Boston you better know how to pour a good Guinness and it better be fresh or don’t serve it at all. This place had the ability to do neither, the Guinness was served in a standard beer glass not a proper pint glass, was stale and did not have the proper gas to liquid ratio. To make it even worse the rude bartender poured the Guinness straight into the glass splashing it off the bottom and filling it right up to the rim without a good hea
I went to the Delux Cafe when I was in town for Easter weekend on Friday night. We chose the place because of its supposed “chill” environment. Well, you might remember how freezing it was that night. The window above our table was open so we closed it. The waitress told us how hot they (waitresses and kitchen staff) were and that the window must remain fully opened. Well, we all put our winter coats on (guys too) to try to stay warm and we still felt like we were outside. So, I closed the window. The waitress yelled at me to open the window again. I calmly explained that it was impossible for us to sit there with the window open and offered to compromise and open it halfway. That was not acceptable to her and she went on about how hot it gets for her and the staff (this was around midnight so it’s not like the kitchen staff was cooking). I tried to reason with her and explained that we are the customers, let’s compromise, etc. I never raised my voice or anything. I asked t
I came here a couple days ago with 2 of my girlfriends and grabbed some drinks. This was the first time I had ever been to this place and while the place was small, I found it to be very intimate and the service to be wonderful! I got the Southern Bellini and it was so scrumptious I ended up drinking it the whole night. My friends got the cucumber cosmo that the bartender recommended and it was nice and refreshing, perfect for a summer night and the kinda blue, which was also yummy. The drinks were soooo good and the place was perfect for sitting and chit chatting with your girlfriends. Coming back here is a must if for nothing else but the Southern Bellini!Pros + Intimate Space, Great Drinks
