Writer, director, actor and comedian Tyler Perry must have been impressed with Newton County during his first visit in 2005 to film “Madea’s Family Reunion.” Perry will be back in April, this time in downtown Covington, to film his new movie, “Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys.” City Manager Steve Horton said a location scout indicated filming will take place in and around Town House Cafe on Washington Street on April 10. Horton said he believes filming will take place both inside the restaurant and outside on the sidewalk or street. James Hamm, owner of Town House Cafe, said he had spoken with a production representative but did not have a confirmed date for filming. A publicist declined to answer questions, but did release a synopsis of the film.
