WHERE Is The American Philatelic Societys StampShow Headed?

Our Society, the American Philatelic Society, has just completed holding the best StampSHOW that I have ever witnessed. The staff of APS and all of the local volunteers are to be congratulated for their amazing efforts. The Chicago (it was actually in Rosemont, IL) location proved to be a winner in attracting record out of town attendance. The show floor was extremely well laid out the best I ve seen at an APS show. The caliber of exhibits was superb. The seminars covered a broad range of philatelic topics. Two major auctions did very well and did not detract from activity on the bourse floor. StampSHOW 2001 gets an A+ in my book. However, will the success of this show be the start of a trend or merely a high water mark on the StampSHOW chart? In the past 12 years there have been other standout shows like St. Louis, Santa Clara, Cleveland and Providence. However, there have also been some bombs like Oakland, Orlando, Anaheim, and Milwaukee. The future locations, Atlantic City, Columbus
