Where is sun located on diagram of earths orbit?
The sun follows a path through the sky called the ‘ecliptic’. This is the same path that earth follows. If we could observe the earth from the surface of the sun (which of course we cannot) we would see that the earth is on the same point of the path occupied by the sun six months earlier. If this seems impossible to you, just imagine that the earth’s orbit describes a plane. The sun is also on this plane. The ecliptic is just the extension of this plane outward toward the stars.
