Where is spotted gum expected to reach these growth rates and productivity levels?
Spotted gum is a suitable plantation species in areas of Queensland and northern New South Wales where the mean annual rainfall is between 700 and 1200 mm. Provided local site conditions are favorable and management is appropriate, it can be grown in several regions in Queensland. Although provenance selection in spotted gum has been made primarily on the basis of superior tolerance to Quambalaria, some of these provenances may also be suitable for lower rainfall regions.
