Where Is Spinal Fluid Produced?
Spinal fluid is the liquid that is produced in the ventricles of the brain. It is needed to fill and protect cavities in the brain and the spinal cord. It is very clear solution and is pure saline with microglia. It is found in the space between the skull and the cerebral vortex. This space is also known as sub arachnoid space in the brain. This liquid acts as a cushion or buffer for the cortex. This liquid or solution is also found in the ventricles of the spinal cord. It has many roles to play like mechanical protection of the brain, distributing neuroendocrine factors, facilitating cerebral blood flow and so on. Various neurological diseases can be diagnosed by testing the spinal fluid. This fluid can be obtained by a process name as the lumbar puncture.
